Ascents as trad by Stephen Parker

Short but Excellent climbing with a very distinctive crux I can't get clean yet.

Impossibly hard moves at the start.

Committing for the short.

Not getting any less committing...

Best I could do was dog my way up this tough little number.

Spanked on TR, but cut me some slack here, it was the only route not occupied and sheltered from the pissing rain by a huge chock stone over the gully.

Settled for pink point since the draws were already on from others doggin' their way up.

Quite sustained.

Should make for a good lead in the near future.

An exercise in trusting your feet.

Swing leads with Jerome. I got the second and forth pitches. The second pitch being my first 22 onsight. Runout in places but there are options for some extra natural gear which we had and I used as often as I could. Great climbing on limestone columns on the forth pitch.

Classic climbing up the conner, the v-grove can be face climbed to some extent too.

Onsigted the first and second pitches. Seconded the thrid and forth pitches. As we started after lunch we had know light left to finish the 5th pitch so we bailed there. Runout in places but great climbing.

Fell while trying to turn the lip.

Great crack to climb. Pity about the ledge at half height to sit on.

Bomber Gear dispite appearances.

Draws were already set on the first two bolts. I finished of the route placing the remainder of the gear.

Really nice steep climbing.

Took a direct line straight up. A bit run out.

Pleasant climbing up the left side of an Arete.

Tough start and keeps you going for some time before you can start to recover.

Difficult blind bouldery start that leads to some great climbing.

Onsighted first, thrid (crux) and fifth pitches, seconded the others. Great adventure route with some loose rock to keep things interesting. Took around 8 hours to climb the route, topping out on dusk.

What can I say, foot slipped off a sloper.

Took a couple of goes to get the crux sequence right.

Moments of excitment scattered amongst the rests. Previously seconded (20030511).

Desperate bridging reachy move that totally spanked me. I retreated to Exilirant to finish up.

Tried to do the route with a pack on but was having difficulty pulling hte mantle move so I down climbed to a rest on the face and removed the pack. Much better with out a pack on.

Tricky gear above the crux. Managed to place an offset alien where my best hand hold was. After that I was too worked to stop and place more gear for the rest of the route.

A couple of desperate moves up the arete after clipping the ring.

Good small gear.

Difficult to get established in the hand crack above the first ledge. Ended up laybacking the entire section.

The most I've been worked in some time. Several times I considered pulling on gear or resting but somehow I managed to pull through to top out clean.

Took 5 attempts over three days to tick this one.

Milked every rest, though the crux took some thinking.

For some reason I thought it was 16-17. Any wonder it felt hard.

Bouldery start with some awkward moves to a kick ass jug.

Bouldery start, wasp nest in a handy pocket and a block the size of a small TV that moves. What more could you want...

Couldn't work out the crux moves. Bailed and cleaned the route on rap.

Pumped out fiddling with gear in the crux. Finished the route with one rest.

so much cleaner lead after just working the moves and gear.

Good like and gear.

Done in much better style the second time round.

Good route, Just have to lead it soon.

Not as intimidating as expected.

Desperate climbing after the roof as I was so pumped. The crux was being able to place gear on the upper half

Returned later the same year to finish this route.

Good climbing all the way.

Great sweeping line
