Ascents by Mark Gamble having Distinct route

Got it second time round!

First lead since the operation and it went well.

An honest 14. Trachyte, rather sharp in places. Fab view from the anchors.

Very nice climbing on big flakes. Definitely NOT a 15. 12ish, maybe a 13 at most.

First climb in 3mths or so. Knee still pretty tender. Got into trouble above the 2nd bolt, & ended up clipping one on Seeker, then resting on the 3rd bolt. Nice beginner route, trustworthy rock.

Had to step down, & reset, but got it in the end.

Took 2 attempts to pull it off.

Easy lap up this, mostly to get a TR on the 16.

It's cleaned up a lot in the intervening years. Pretty pathetic effort. Got stuck at the 4th bolt.

Rather heady exposure.

Was a tricky crux, with the key footholds slippery. But figured out the move, after about 10mins of attempts. Then unclipped the bolt from the ledge above.

Easy peezy, not a 15.

Nice climbing. Not 16.

Couldn't pull it off cleanly. End of day.

Was howling a gale up there today, almost got blown off at the crux.

Some interesting moves. The broken holds are rather disconcerting.

Got to the crux OK, but couldn't pull through. Interestingly, this felt as hard as the 14

Another easy tick.

Some change appears to have manifested itself: first clean TR this year. AW managed.

Got there with 15,000 rests. Probably/possibly the wrong sequence, we went left at the 3rd bolt.

Very pumpy little number & I'm utterly out of shape. Had to fall my way up it.

The shit kicked in.

Rather thin crux, couldn't pull it off clean. Good lead by Max.

Some "16". Very thin, very sustained - right to the end over the death blocks. I think I had less than 20,000 rests. But it did take me about 2hrs to second.

Left wrist too sore, so bailed for another day.

Was going for the onsight till Jedman laid on some beta.

Setting up the top rope.

Very tricky start with the crux being to get to the first bolt. But easy after that.

Climbs nice. Just gotta stare down that first bolt.

Pretty straight forward.

Actually made it up clean.

Had to stop n check out the bolt placements. But climbs nice.

I can see the sequence, but had to do it as an onsight resting dog.

This one i could manage. ADD is definitely a grade harder.

Made it to the first crux & a bit beyond. But, sooo smashed.

Had to get Derek to lead it again so i could climb it.

Got there after a couple of starts. Pretty smashed with barely 4hrs sleep.

Eat crow and second Derek up it. Very much at the limit of my lead ability. Would like to work this some more on TR.

Some 16. I think I've done grade 12s that were harder. Certainly The Bard.

Nice moves, tricky start for the grade.

Rather desperate moves to 2nd FH, then 3rd FH. Thin crimping on slippery slab above. Not a pleasant experience.

Had to have another shot on it. The crux sequence is gold.

Pretty damn thin for a 9. Damo did a good job to lead it. In retrospect, I think it's just as hard as the one next to it. If anything, more committing on thin holds. Certainly as tough as any 11 at Andromeda.

Just that tad easier to make that first bolt. But nice moves after that.

That first bolt is rather high & committing. Not for me today.
