19 The Silk Road - with Stubtronics
1 17 35 Trad

Approach pitch, inoffensive enough but mixed vege scrambling, was a bit of chalk marking up the face holds.

2 19 35 Second

Cool stemming crux to dirty ledge mantle.

3 19 30 Trad

Bit decky off the ledge but not unreasonable moves until first good gear (maybe 16-17R ?). Soon improves to fun corner climbing. Used the #6 but TBH wouldn't bother bringing it next time. Stitched it up after the start. Usual dirty ledge mantle.

4 16 25 Second lead by Stubtronics

Bit of cool climbing deteriorates into exit pitch vege-neering.

Stoked to finally get on this route, good traddy fun, lots of stemming and a bit of jamming.

Rack: 0.3-#4 doubles, 3*#1, 4*#2, 1*#6, set standard nuts, set and a bit alloy offsets.

Used half ropes.

Would use single rope, ditch the #6, ditch standard nuts next time.

This is a very fun route! The gear is good, the climbing on the upper two pitches is excellent if you are a corner conisuer.

Alec's first multipitch!

Pitch 1: and 2 are your standard mountains horizontal face trad. Onsite.

Pitch 3: I guess after the rain this week there was 5 key holds on the Crux of this pitch that were wet. Still climbable you just have to do a harder sequence. The crux is superfun on this pitch!

Fell off on the onsite. Fell off second shot due to the dampness Lowered to the base of the crux and went to the top so overlaping 1 sit.

Pitch 4: Another wet hold 😞 Second shot placing This was a rad corner pitch!

This route is still climbable even if the holds are damp!

Stoked to get the 24 pitch done on my 6th pitch of the day 🙌

Wall.

Beautiful climbing. Wouldn’t wanna be short on this pitch.

4 Second lead by Sam Rose

One silly fall. Pulled right back on and finished. Felt easier than P1.

5 Sport lead by Josh Peters

Nutty exposure. Blinded by sun coming out of the roof and missed jugs. Fun pitch.

6 Second lead by Sam Rose

The spooky pitch that kept me up the night before thinking about the no-fall-zone. Luckily the rope cutting traverse was very easy.

20 Randy Rabbit Ridge - with Ross Paynter, Charlie Catt
1 20 25 Sport lead by Bruno Alves Buzatto

Some tricky moves, but early in the day, full tank, easy going.

2 20 20 Second lead by Charlie Catt

Awesome lead by Charlie — this in my opinion is definitely the hardest pitch of the day!

3 20 25 Second lead by Ross Paynter

great onsight of the cruxy start by Ross! I'll log a dog cause I came off early, but the rope stretch almost got me back to the belay, so I still felt like a full clean ascent on second. The old man lets the team down I guess it was never going to be a team onsight cause I'd been on this before.

4 18 40 Sport lead by Bruno Alves Buzatto

Bouldery move from the belay, then getting easier and into a stroll... At the end of this is where you can easily end up on the wrong anchors on the left (BBB I think), but if you go around the right of the tree and climb the last bolted block you are heading the right way.

5 17 25 Second lead by Charlie Catt

definitely worth moving the belay up

6 20 Second lead by Charlie Catt

linked with previous pitch

7 18 15 Second lead by Charlie Catt

we asked Charlie to link 5 and 6 and he thought it was a buy 2 get 1 free and linked this one too What a beast – I don't recommend it cause when the leader is doing harder moves in pitch 7 the belayer is super far away managing a lot of rope drag (maybe the drag would have caught a fall?)

8 20 30 Sport lead by Bruno Alves Buzatto

yes, finally, this is the shit!! The traverse is amazing and looks so intimidating. But it's all juggy and with a cave you can rest in at the end (or at least knee bar), so it's pretty easy actually. Moving onto the arete on jugs is also easy if you use the rest well — the boys with me probably considered that aid!

9 17 20 Second lead by Ross Paynter

this is just like BBB, and if anything a tad easier?

10 18 30 Second lead by Ross Paynter

another BBB variant, felt easier but a bit chossier?

11 20 30 Second lead by Charlie Catt

Better than I remembered with a bouldery move at the start of the wall (after the easy slab/scramble) and a fun delicate finish.

Sport 280m, 99
Bruno Alves Buzatto
Coming back with 2 young guns to do a repeat and get my lead on pitch 8, finally! Was worried about weather but we were super lucky with better than the forecast conditions. Felt way more relaxed on every pitch, but came off while seconding the start of P3 — funnily that went clean first try with Tim years ago, even though I was definitely weaker then. Realized I never led that pitch either, so that's the reason to get back on it!

20 Randy Rabbit Ridge - with Charlie Catt, Bruno Alves Buzatto, Ross Paynter
1 20 25 Second lead by Bruno Alves Buzatto

Fun! Interesting seeing the chain link “bolts” for the first time. Some tricky ish moves.

2 20 20 Second lead by Charlie Catt

Pretty cool but tough pitch. Might be the hardest of the lot. Dihedral, arrête and traverse. Nice lead Charlie.

3 20 25 Sport lead by Ross Paynter

Tricky start move I didn’t want to commit to however once I did it was very nice indeed!!

4 18 40 Second lead by Bruno Alves Buzatto

Start move and then decent moves.

5 17 25 Second lead by Charlie Catt

We moved the belay up to allow Charlie to link pitch 5 and 6. Little did we know he would do 7 as well (potentially risky).

6 20 Second lead by Charlie Catt

I think this was a silly scramble that was meant to end at a tree belay.

7 18 15 Second lead by Charlie Catt

Nice small pitch with some moves.

8 20 30 Second lead by Bruno Alves Buzatto

Super cool and airy pitch. I almost pumped out managing the ropes for the third. Jugs all the way and exposed as hell!!

9 17 20 Sport lead by Ross Paynter

Jug hauling on ironstone waves!!! Traverse around to see BBB bolts but before you get there the RRR bolts will present themselves. We didn’t both shifting the belay.

10 18 30 Sport lead by Ross Paynter

More jug hauling with perhaps a slightly harder move than the previous pitch. I didnt read the guidebook and stopped at the first set of rings like a rookie.

11 20 30 Second lead by Charlie Catt

Nice final pitch to finish it off. Bit of a move toward the end.

Incredible move going out from the roof back onto the face. Found a heel/toe cam to get established going horizontal out of the roof, then letting go of it puts you in this epic swinging cut loose, quick pull-up, then back onto another foothold to keep going.

6 Sport lead by Josh Peters

Super nails, probably the hardest pitch we did. Runouts were so wild I decided now would be a good time to start having a mantra while leading.

7 Second lead by yim

The money pitch. The traverse across the big roof was nothing short of epic. Staying low on good feet made the stomach stay mostly in place, but the sheer exposure and risk of a sketchy rope dragging fall was enough to keep your cheeks clenched.

8 Sport lead by Josh Peters

Dunno if a single bolt for a 30 meter pitch is exactly what I had in mind for the top out, but I guess that’s what you get when you jump on a route bolted for 26 climbers.

Thankfully the hold I tore off and the whip I took was only a meter or so above the sole bolt. Tapped every piece of rock a good dozen times from there on out.

Every bit as good as it's written up to be. Some seriously exciting exposure, and the length of pitch 7 was epic. Didn't give itself away easily. Stoked to get on more at the Pass. Had Mike Rockell climbing next to us with Stuart on Randy Rabbit Ridge. Got lucky with the approach rapping off another crew's 100m static. Thank you!

The "Quad Crown", the four easiest pierces multis all the way to the top (i.e. including top pitch of mirrorball), self-supported in a very underwhelming time of 14.5 hrs car-to-car. Had to battle to get her done towards the end there as cramps and foot pain settled in, thanks for the quality banter and being an excellent climbing partner all day Matt King

A great afternoon (in the sun) with Mungo.

I was pleased to climb through the P2 crux after a little rest on the rope depite almost losing consciousness from dehydration. I was also very happy to redpoint the last pitch despite fiddling with gear a lot and getting pumped. I think pitches 1, 3 and 4 are probably only about 20, and pitch 5 might be 21

Awesome climb! Pitch 8 is one of the greatest pitches I have done in the Blueis.

I would grade the entire multi-pitch as 20, but hardest pitches on their own are on the soft side of 19s.

Note it is very easy to link with BBB at multiple locations.

As to the small hangers in the first three pitches, indeed, they are very small, so make sure to carry some thiner quickdraws.

Spicy start to the climb kept things interesting but it's definitely a lot easier if you find the right beta.

Silly fall onto spikey tree. I have been "hard" sport climbing too much recently to remember to switch to a more conservative mindset on a multi when the consequences of falling and injury are worse. Lesson learned for next time!

3 18 40m Second lead by Grace Daff

This was such a cool pitch, so much value. I really enjoyed the traverse, step out back onto the arete and the bulge sequence. So fun and thought provoking.

4 8 30m Sport lead by Jill

A little more exciting because I didn't go far enough to the right to find the bolts and ran it out between trees. Climbing was easy and felt just like tibro spacing on easy territory so I wasn't stressed. Did have a chuckle when I eventually saw how many bolts I had skipped oops!

5 8 40m Second lead by Grace Daff
6 18 40m Second lead by Grace Daff

This was meant to be my lead but I swapped with Grace cuz I was feeling a bit woozy after dressing my leg with some first aid supplies. It was a glorious sequence under the roof and stepping out onto the headwall, loved it. Even with loads of extenders the rope drag seemed pretty bad!

7 18 40m Sport lead by Jill

I got my head screwed back on to finish the climb strong. This pitch was The starting move was a bit tough to commit to but once I went for it and stood up it was jug city and flowy moves up in the sky almost to the top. I wasn't expecting the top out to have a final cruxy move but it kept things interesting for sure, especially when I was one draw short and had to repurpose a locker...

Loved this pitch though.

8 13 40m Sport lead by Jill

Super fun for a 13. Lots of variety and the rope drag wasn't too much with a heap of slings. The feeling topping out and looking out over the valley was so special. Wildflowers and blue skies. Happy climber!

What an adventure! It was a great mixture of thoughtful moves for the first 3 pitches and then headwall glory for the last 3.

Overall the climb was easier than I expected (phew) but I did have an unfortunate lapse in concentration/decision making skills whilst leading P2 and made a sketchy move above the ledge mid pitch. I fell a decent way onto a spikey tree. Sorry tree.

I was a bit shaken up but I managed to pull it together and keep going.

Bunny Bucket was very enjoyable even with a flesh wound Thanks Grace for being my rope wife! Can't wait for our next trip to the Bluies!

Finally taking Adam for his 20th birthday climb up BBB a few days shy of his 22nd birthday!

Climbed as 2 groups of 2: Me and Jack; Adam and Casey.

Left the car approx 8:15am and back by 3:25pm; got to lunch ledge around 12:20pm. Waited about an hour until I started climbing once we got to the start. A LOT of people on it today! 4 people in front and 2 that passed us on lunch ledge simul climbing.

Overall, probably 2 or so hours of waiting (at the start, lunch ledge and then at most anchors) but who cares when you’re having a good time and the climbing is super fun and cruisy!

Jack lead odds and I lead evens, except we simul climbed 4/5 and I was in front and “linked” them. Remembered the juggy head wall but my goodness, I couldn’t stop smiling up P7!

Realised I left my keys in Adam’s car so our car shuffle didn’t work out as intended, woops. Thanks to Alex/Hannah for the lift down though!!

Nice and sustained compared to bunny, a significant improvement while not too much harder. Maybe a bit chossier though in parts.

Linked p7+8, while it makes for a good long pitch the rope drag was horrid even with some alpines. Wouldn't reccomend
