The first pitch on this thing had my mind on edge and thinking the whole time. To be honest I have on-sighted easier 23's... Absolute banger of a pitch, was beaming once I hit those anchors . I fell unfortunately seconding the second pitch right at that middle section where it requires a bit of balance. My backpack dragged me the wrong way . The Traverse pitch was also another cracker! Even seconding was exciting. The rest of climb went with ease as I lead/seconded my way to the top. Another one on the bucket list ticked!

P1 Total sandbag at 22 with four hard sections, but as this pitch is well bolted its easy to push through. Did this on Sat 20th with the Antarctic winds, with not enough cloths making it really tough, especially as we climbed higher. Previously done Contented Cows variant (the better version overall), so only first 3 pitches were new to me. Great climb and happy to finally have had the opportunity to do this mega classic.

9hrs car to car. Did the numpty move of pulling through the first pitch (hard!). Happy with my two 20 leads after being super pumped coming into both of them! Anthony somehow linked pitch 3 and 4 (with a 70m rope) into one mega bash, missed 5 draws but when I seconded he still had 3 draws on him! Apparently just doesn't like clipping... I've never had better weather in the bluies, no wind, 13 deg top made for a glorious send day. Stoked.

Beautiful climbing in a beautiful location. First pitch felt about 23 and everything else felt a grade or 2 higher because of the massive winds. The wind made every pitch take forever and we had to climb the last pitch in the dark. Will definitely get there earlier and on a less windy day next time.

We probably should have joined the other pair that were walking out of the Rapp station due to the extreme winds. It was a brutal climb the entire way up. Having to pause for minutes on all the techy crimpt sequences as the 70kmh gusts tried to strip us from the wall.

Standouts where definately the first pitch and the traverse. So much exposure on this climb it was absolutely stunning climbing.

Glad we made it in the end. An all around great climb with a great partner!

Stoked to get the onsight of P1. Not as hard as I was expecting from others comments. I'd say 22 is fair. Loved the traverse and following 2 pitches. Linked the latter 2 as a 55m pitch, but needed to skip a few bolts as I was short on draws. Upper pitches felt easy for the grades to me. Just under 8hrs car to car.

Great long day out! We decided to bail after p6 when we ran out of energy and skin. Most pitches felt harder than the grades suggest, but maybe because we had to work too hard on p1 and got tired. I'm still glad we gave it a good shot, loved the exposure. Very grateful for the rescue crew who hiked down to Westface of the Mirrorball to help us get back out!!

Big retreat. Happy with our decision making processes, and effort. We were too weak. Every pitch felt stiff, and we hadn't allowed for that in our margin.

Unashamedly yarded through basically the whole thing. Except the traverse because you can't.

Retreated at 5.30pm to the ground. Made it to the ledge from the top of P6 on 2x 60m ropes.

Had a great day out though.

The wind was definitely in my hair on this one!! +2 to each pitch for wind factor I reckon. If you get to the rap in and the wind is blowing you off the cliff, I'd recommend maybe not proceeding to climb! Super happy to get the onsight of pitch one, although I think I pulled harder on pitch 7 to avoid getting ripped of the wall by the 60km/h winds. A fun day out, the first pitch is hard as everyone knows, but the rest is pretty cruisy, and as it has a couple of easier pitches 8 hours car to car was chill. With a 70 can link pitches 3+4 and 7+8

Huge day, bucket list ticked. 3L of water between us, carried too much food. Was told 100m fixed line was at the abseil so only brought one rope. Missed out on a haul line for the backpack but less logistics to manage.

Great day!! Great weather! What an adventure! I've been thinking about this climb for ages. I heard many comments saying the first pitch was hard, so I gave it all. I kept moving slowly, and I was very happy when I got to the anchors! I think it's a solid 22.

To say that I dogged this would be an understatement. Jay carried the team on this one, especially considering that we had 2 other groups behind us. First pitch was definitely the crux, and the 19 traverse was really gripping. Overall, an amazing day out.

The first pitch is pretty sandbagged at 22, I'd say pretty comfortably 23. Struggled a bit with endurance, as it was my first climb outdoors five months, which was, in hindsight, pretty optimistic

On the bright side everything else felt much softer at the grade than that first pitch, though the 19 traverse pitch was gripping.

I ended up leading most of the harder pitches because Alex got ruined by the first pitch. We were both shattered when we got back to the car All in all, and awesome day out.

Not the 8m overhung Coolum climb I'm used to. The 22 felt like a QLD 24. Climbed pitches 2-10 with our second rope on my back - not something I'd recommend. Pitches 5, 6, 7 and 8 are great. The traverse is epic. Unfortunately, pitches 7 and up were wet. We got rained on during pitch 7 which did not help with the pump I was experiencing. The cave just before the final pitch is home to a very chonky wombat. Awesome route, great day.

What an interesting outing. Barefoot approach is a romantic notion, but only that. Until you chuck uggies on in the car and they have never felt better. Kudos to Nikita Miltiadou for joining in on the sufferfest. Was 2nd to the most wind I've had on a multi - nearly got blown off on the traverse pitch going up after the 20m crab walk, just as I climbed into sun . This part was type 1 fun. Other parts however.. such as the anchor at the very top - could be like 4m back and 1.5m higher for amazing views while belaying, rather than a crouching awks fest. And pitch 1.. how rude. Rad movements, but rude. Can't give that 22. Thankfully my desire to hold on outweighed my desire to rest my toes there. Happily an onsight despite my efforts to get beta from people - I certainly tried. Elements of type 2 fun, plenty of type 1, no type 3 thankfully. And a whole lot of rocks now embedded into the soles of my feet. Rad, sick, and yet with elements of, hmm.., 2 stars. Will say 23, and still not giveaway in my opinion. 3 star mega for pitches 5, 6, and 7 though.

They day I became an aid climber. I used up all my sweet send juice trying to free the first pitch for way too long. This left me with nothing for the rest of them. Therefore I aided through almost everything. Led a 17 and an 18 pitch in there somewhere. I cried (literally) at the thought of leading another. Good job my partner is one of those 'hard man test piece' types and got us through. Last pitch was by far the worst. Breaking off holds and funnelwebs in all the pockets....

I should of done BBB instead. Make sure you are strong enough and you will have a great time.

most of this climb i was stressed about being benighted and was having a pretty awful time. (neglecting to eat out of fear of 'wasting time' definitely did not help). then when we watched the sun go down and shed a tear each for our collectively fragility at the bottom of pitch 7, my worst nightmare had finally come true. and it was fine turns out. At that point, I had the best time ever on the top four pitches singing, being merry, killing rope management, and taking in the sweet sweet moonshadow cascading across the walls of the Grose. not even a wall plagued with funnelwebs could have gotten me down. big ups to boss noodles for the meal and hospitality. no thanks to my weak as piss stomach that couldn't handle our dine and discover feast after subsisting off 1.5 litres of water and 7 peanut m&ms for the 12 hours prior.

Superb climb but we had a bit of a Murphy's Law style near-epic on this rig. A real example to me of attitude and willpower can counteract multiple independent error factors in the mountains! Super impressed by Hils for fighting through to the top like a champ. Everything was chugging along alright till p4 when we dropped the singular water bladder we were using. Hilary then ripped her cannula out and copped a period bleed. After re-grouping at the base of p5, we pressed on to the top.

We took one of the small water bottles from the emergency bin to keep us going. There are still plenty left. Can somebody please notify me how best remunerate this! Thanks!

Was at the bottom of the rap in at 7:30, shared ropes with friends on another climb. Made a mess of finding the start until another group showed us the way. We let them go ahead but that gave us a chance to catch our breath after the unnecessary bush bashing. First pitch is hard so if possible bring one bag so the leader has a decent shot, really had to pace myself and manage pump. Found the following pitch a difficult second after this. Some super climbing throughout and the traverse followed by the 20 on the face is excellent. We took about 6.5 hours and brought three litres of water which we found a good amount for us. Sun hit just after traverse pitch at 1ish.

Such an amazing route, with perfect weather for the day too. Highlights were definitely the first pitch and the traverse. Made pretty good time too, besides me fumbling about trying to preserve the onsight on pitch 1. Just got the sun at about 1pm on the traverse, didn't feel the heat till the walk out.

What a fantastic day out! Got started around 10am on the actual climb. Patrick the beast onsighted the first pitch. I agree with him that there's good beta that makes it a 22 and not a super difficult pitch. We motored our way through with efficient switches to take advantage of the shade. The sun came around as I smiled on the mega traverse pitch. The next two were just as good but I was worried slightly about my arms cramping with the 5kg back pack on second. Wonderful route

Epic day out! Stoked to finally get onto this one! First pitch was pretty stiff at 22.. Was no wind forecast, the rope being blown above my head on the hanging belay above the traverse said otherwise. Definitely added a feeling of exposure 😅

FINALLY! I remember the first time I climbed in the blue mountains I saw that epic Simon carter photo and thought....I want to do that! Sadly I was only climbing 15-16 outdoors at the time so had to wait. Finally! Dream come true. Awesome line, loved the exposure

Fav pitch: Pitch after the traverse

Least fav pitch: First pitch, not due to the climbing but due to MY climbing

Fav move: Pitch 2 slab crux

Fav belay: Hanging belay on the headwall up top

New learning: The art of aid climbing (French freeing) on pitch 1

Something I would do different next time: Haul that bloody bag on pitch 1

Exciting moments: Trying to combine P7 and P8 without enough quickdraws

Constant fear factor: Dropping them climbing shoes

Scariest moment: Witness a guy use fiddle stick on the Weaselburger abseil

Proudest moment: Checking out the emergency bucket. Holyshit there is a lot of stuff in there and I might have added a gourmet chocolate bar that will give guarantee the poor survivors a trip to the dentist.

Crazy day out, winds started off about 35-40kmh which felt manageable but as soon as we finished pitch 6 a massive storm rolled in. Managed to grit through and top out but the rope got stuck at pitch 7 belay station so I had to gri gri down to rescue it and self belay back up. Took a breather at pitch 9 and finished it. Lesson learnt, respect the weather!!

What an epic!! Didn't get benighted but holy hell did we get smashed! After the first couple of pitches we got hit by winds probably exceeding 40-50kn, felt like i was going to freeze to death on a 29 degree day. Fatigued to hell trying to hold on in the winds, was even worse on hanging belay getting blown from side to side. Collapsed out on top into the sun. Awesome!
