Ascents of A Date with Density

Pitch 2 only, got spat off coming back around the arete, continues to get harder

A great day out heckling and climbing. Unfortunately underwhelming climbing mostly on grey, dirty rock (probably from recent rains). The second pitch was by far the highlight and was super awesome!

Just go do Regular Route. Pretty shite considering the reputation. Pitch one is 21 except for a 3m boulder problem that’s sharp, reachy, and unpleasant and that I also think felt more like 26, pitch two is rad but you can just do it as part of Yak Banquet, pitch three has all the hard climbing in the least pleasant and most traversey and poorly bolted part of the route, pitch four is inoffensive until the end where you encounter the hardest moves and it becomes unnecessarily dangerously run out, and pitch five is super soft but really pretty good despite being quite dirty, and you get to do this pitch on Regular Route anyway which is 10 stars better in every way. Other general qualms i have include the whole thing being generally not well bolted (not just that it was run out, i was prepared for that but when you get a bolt it’s in a shit spot), it’s extremely dirty at the moment (i imagine this isn’t the route’s fault and is just because we have had two very wet summers after an aggressive bushfire year), and the whole this is essentially a snappy black slab. Ten star company and shit talking for a day spent on a zero to one star route. Sorry Liz.

Broke a hold on pitch 1 probably harder now. Found the second pitch to be stiff and third to be soft.

Fought hard to get this one; there's just so much climbing and such quality moves through-out.

Super awesome climbing, loved it!

Dave wanted to do Date with Density but after 2 pitches realised he had done it before (d'oh) so swung onto Beggars Banquet. I was pleased to lead the easier pitches and scrabble cleanly up the others with the comfort of a rope from above. Big pitch on BB is stellar - nearly pumped after taking a poor line at the crux and reversing back to the better line.
