Ascents in Flowstone Wall

What we really came for. Matt battled a potentially broken toe to face another day of slabbing. 2:15 from car to rap chains. The approach is absolutely apart of why you do this route. Pretty much the skyline traverse. Maybe i should log the skyline traverse? Nah. Too many rules on thecrag. Anyway. Bring doubles or an 80m rope cos we had to rap off a bolt 240 slung to a cam in a scoop. In fairness though, the route climbs this section so if you have a 240 and are happy to bring an extra no. 3, a 70 will be fine. Great first 2 pitches, rather uneventful up high, but the adventure out to flowstone is worth while for sure. The aid move is also well and truly an aid move, how someone freed that bulge at any grade is beyond me. Even aiding was hard. A stash of sour gummies got us back to sleepy bay and eventually richies for a swim followed by brrz.

Got lost on the way there so only did the last pitch. Good approach beta for next time though!

Bailed after the first pitch, watching Gerry essentially solo it mad me feel ill, small RP as pro about 15m up then nothing too the belay, looking out at the slab void of any crystals facing another 15m to the 40yo carrot didn't really tantalise us.... once again huge props to Herrington and Kennedy for doing this line but for us mere mortals I think it best to give this a pass

Monster day out had initially decided to do Crystal Voyager but subsequently bailed after the first pitch as it was a death route! Props to Herrington and Kennedy for doing it ground up.. after traversing the slabs Arocknaphobia was the quickest route out, pulled on the crux bolt due to time restraint and not seeing any obvious move through it at 22... a brilliant line in its own right, swinging leads with Gerry

2 hour walk if you know where your going. Nails crux (not 22), 3 raps two 60’s don’t make it to pitch 2 anchors. First two pitches are great!

Led 1,3,5. Nails moves on pitch 1. Major calf pump and then very thin overlap. Kept going back to hands free rest and did it clean about 6th go. Rest of climb straightforward. Walk in on a hot day was epic. About 8 hour round trip and a lot of slabs.

Sick route, what a mega day out. 11hrs car to car. We aided the crux on pitch 1 as there was no visible way of doing it and attempts proved it. Lead pitch 2 which is the glory hole and pitch 4.

Mega mega approach. Where do I start, first up I couldn't rap to the 2nd belay with double 50's. Fell off on super sharp slab crux on pitch one, pulled on draw to pass it. 2nd pitch was awesome and would be classic if it was more accessible. Pitch 3,4 and 5 were very average. Several of the U bolt are made with a too small radius and sunk too deep allowing only super skinny biner to be used. Rock was horribly sharp. Found the hike in too be more enjoyable than the climb.

the most amazing route. kinda. led p1, 3, 5. p1 sensational. p2 same, p3 not too bad, bit easy up top. p4 is short in crux, and NOT 19. p5 is fantastic sport climb. it's true, only need single rack (doubt you even need to bother with nuts). but access is FUCKING EPIC.

Great route. Worthwhile checking out the approach and leaving gear at the start of the climb beforehand. Many people have missed an ascent due to getting lost!
