Oh my god. I should've learnt by now that this is not a route to leave until the end of the day. Did all the moves with a rest and finished with a good whipper from the final holds. That was enough. A few notes; 1) this is far from a 21 (felt more like a 24 but fatigue may've played a part), 2) delicate climbing and finicky pro, and 3) kudos to Cazza on a fantastic lead (even if she is a dirty sandbagger ). Thanks for the catch and your patience, Skippy!
Gave Ben a catch on this. Jeez this is nail biting even as the belayer, marginal gear, technical, loose in parts. Ben fought it valiantly for maybe 45 mins and then unzipped from the top then we bailed.
carol lee That is the biggest sandbag I've ever climbed. Tried to climb, actually. It is at least a very stiff 23, to me it felt even more like a solid 24! Then again, it was my first and only day of climbing here at Ebor and maybe I was just spoiled by the 'easy grading' at Frog
Seconded Carol on this with a few rests, I accept that I'm a bit long in the tooth for this sort of thing but but it seemed much harder than 21 to me. Possibly no individual moves harder than 22 but string them together (with nothing between which qualifies as a real rest) and take into account the technical nature of the moves... and you've got yourself a 23. OK that's my two bob's worth... Comments anyone?
Found this really technical and sequency and had to bail in the end (I can still hear Carol snickering). Will have to come back and try this fresh. A few more ascents will sort out the grade but so far I think it's harder than the 21 it's been given
