Ascents in Uncle Charlie

Been on the list for a while now. Tis good, easier than it looks.

Magical. After falling numerous times on the rockover last year it was nice to come back and get it done relatively quickly this season, absolutely classic!

Get horizontal!

Traverse sequence was baffling. Fun moves before and after that. #7 DMM Wallnut felt just a little sketch but did the job.

Note that a 14 year old can get to 3rd clip barefoot and in the dark without a head torch guessing Where the holds are

Fell off the bird bath from the ground! And climbed from bird bath to top so I did it in two parts yewww

Pre-placed gear and sprayed down thoroughly by the crew and the clouds 🌧️

Note - the rope to abseil to the anchors is super dodgy, probably needs replacing. Also the anchors are on the left of the fixed rope, NOT directly below it.

Interesting climbing, found it a bit tricky to find beta for the first half but was chill once we figured it out. The crux is nails hard but I’m sure with a bit of projecting it’ll go. The climbing is cool but there’s a lot of faff having to rappel to place the nut and cleaning overhanging routes always sucks. Might project it after I get have a good flight.

First time here was kind of a fail. Didn't have a clip stick and the first bolt is super high. We by mistake clipped the first bolt of "All my exes live in Texas" thinking it was the first bolt. Hit my feet on the boulder from a fall. Managed to get the first clip by shoving a stick in my harness and clipping from the jugs. Bailed then because it got dark. Great time overall.

Wow there are some amazing moves on this climb. Just have to get though it without blowing feet.

Lovely. Went down quicker than I thought it would. Dynamic knee bars all the way.

A pretty proud onsight for the grade. Awkward combination of thrutchy jamming and stemming, this had me pretty spooked the whole way through.

should prolly do with a downgrade but who knows

Heck yeah! Had to really dial the beta in. Ended up sending while super tired! What a feeling

So good! Much nicer than its neighbour. First go best go of the day, highly recommend.

Some nice little technical bits which makes for an enjoyable climb.

All the moves done. Crux was wild! Linked all into crux, worked the moved and stuck it and linked to top. Maybe next time?
