Ascents in Australia as various tick types

Many attempts. Got the landing rebuilt. Nice to be back in the gorge. First boulder sesh here for me since the floods. Got this twice from one move in (LH bump only), and many overlapping halves from start. Can't get closer without sending

Second session on this thing. Good progress.

Slipped out of the offwidth chimney, decked on the ledge below, bounced the back of my helmet-less head off the opposing wall. It was a great time. I had to take my helmet off because I literally couldn't fit my fat head through the chimney with the helmet on.

Mistake #1: putting a quickdraw on the #5 C4 I had in the roof. Go direct and make sure your belayer has you on a tight leash.

Mistake #2: not taking off the helmet before trying to squeeze my melon through the chimney. Had to awkwardly take it off while fighting for my life.

Mistake #3: not having a #3 C4 ready to place after getting my head through.

What kind of sadist grades this as an 18 by the way?

This was the best climb we’ve done. Lots of great holds and a nice heel hook at the beginning. Definitely made us realise how valuable a stick clip would be. Off to buy one this week lol. Didn’t fall at all on this route but had to take about 4 tests on the rope. Not used to outdoor vertical climbing …

Climbed at the end of the day and was a bit tired. Ended up going off route twice and clipping into bolts on my right after some two finger pocket pulls. I had to take off my gear and down climb a bit to get back on route. Also ran out of draws on my rhs of harness so had to take a fall when clipping second bolt on vertical section which stuffed me.

Was a great climb but ended up calling it and left a Mallon on one of the hangers. Will be back to give it another go now I know where the route is.

Cracker sunset, fluorescent pinks and oranges accompanied by singing lyrebirds in the valley below - magic. Hung the draws then fell off the last move, really like this route

Came close to sending this but messed up the sequence at the last bolt, might go next time

Contrary to previous times I've pulled on, I could actually pull my ass of the ground for a couple seconds. Feeling like I ought to give it some attempts! Great to watch the gents get some tops, awesome Sunday.

Stumped as to why I keep fumbling this thing. Maybe patience will help. Next time.

Shak'n in my booties, fell before anchors

Fun end of day attempt in the pouring rain... Felt like I was climbing well... and then I found the crux!

Took a few biiiiiiig falls on the crux undercling move. When I stuck it (replete with flying drive-by) I felt like a boss!

Short (if climbed without linking into the upper pitch) but great rock, and very strange (engaging) moves. I'm happy to call this one 25 with my physiology.

All clean to anchor, just did not want to commit to clipping them. Found a toe hook to clip them after sitting. Serious fun

Tough couple of moves off the ledge. Blue totem saving the ankles 💪

Cruxy thing makes sense now, the new journey is whether I can send the rest without being too pumped

Really messed up the right foot beta and needed quite a few sits working it out. Find this style quite hard to work out

Sort of hate that start mantle thing, but enjoyed the relatively easy middle. Didn’t manage to figure out how to stick the LH crimp from the flat jug at second to last bolt. The low feet are too low and the high ones are too high 😅 was very tired by then though. One to try again

Nice little route, so close today but got dark

Second proper session working it on TRsolo. Linked through the first crux to the bulge. Got through the bulge sequence - always feels sketchy having high feet on TR solo. Have to work on the top next, doesn't seem especially hard but will be pretty touch and go after the lower sections!

Really fun! Need to practice the moves at the top

Jumped on Sam’s mega proj. Desperately tried to flash it out of spite but I’m pretty sure he sprayed some bad beta to throw me off. Either way I’m certain I’d have been short roped if I were to make it to the chains.

Can’t believe Sam has been Coolum 6 times and this is the only route he’s touched. Pure trash. Sam is mentally ill.
