The best multi I have ever done and one that keeps with my trend of achieving climbing 'firsts' in intimidating locations. I onsighted the first pitch which was rather gripping but probably quite easy at the grade, giving me my first Trad 23 and then, after belaying Paul's ultra solid send, almost almost scraped the crux pitch clean on second. I slipped off essentially the last move of the crux right at the end of the pitch despite feeling quite solid. After one false start I pulled on and mantled up to the belay. This pitch is all time!! featuring unlikely steep climbing at about grade 22 all the way until the intimidating and awesome final crux sequence; The best!! I then led and onsighted the third pitch (having told Paul I wanted to lead the layback that Ben Cossey is climbing in the TNF ad in the guidebook), a significantly harder 23 than the first pitch but ultra rad and super demanding for the section of real climbing before it turns into a ramble to the belay. At this point my head was pretty gone and I was feeling exhausted so Paul said he was happy to lead the last two pitches, an offer I gratefully accepted and I managed both of these clean on second with a major fight to keep it together on the final pitch as my lack of day-endurance took its toll and I found myself pumped stupid.

All up it is probably one of the best days of climbing to be had in the Bluies and I would highly recommend it to anyone who can muster the psych!!! Get on it!

P2 crux was fiesty! Managed to do the crux 2nd go then onsight to the anchors, the top half of p2 was some damn amazing climbing! worth it just for that section. The 23 was a monster crimper pitch.. Felt it's tricky to onsight in the crux section cos of a hard to spot hold, a great 45m crimp fest. (p3 tops out at lunch ledge, can do exposed crawl to rap area-stashed lunch)

So close to the onsight!!!! Tried to straight-in jam the .75 crux rather than doing 3 layback moves to the fingerlock 🤷‍♂️ Oh well. Should go with the right beta next time.

Anyway. Great climb. Not too hard for the grade. Excellent locations.

Listed gear beta is spot on. Definitely don't need the #4 though.

The start of the 25 pitch was so difficult for me. I eventually figured out a way after sitting on the bolt, back and fourth. I was so exhausted after all this I ended up sitting on gear and pulling on gear several more times throughout the rest of the pitch.

Happy I was able to climb all the other pitches clean.

Need to work my thin hand jams for the p2 crux. Got too pumped and took the whip. Otherwise all other pitches went free! Will come back next trip for the all free ascent. Awesome exposure and good placements! Was sitting bricks walking up to the route but the nerves died as we got higher. The belay jacket was a necessity as temps were in the low single digits with blasting wind, such an awesome adventure that I'll remember for a very long time.

Great movement all the way on varying rock quality.

After a sleepless night got up at 6:30 knowing I was gonna try pull the onsight of my life out my ass.

Tried to link the first three raps with a beena blocked 60+70m combo resulted in roughly 1hr and 45 mins of myself and Alyssa faffing furiously with a 3:1 to drag the rope down.

Finished hauling the rope down and rapped in by 10:45

Super awesome route. Just like some classic rad trad but with a squillion bolts. First pitch is really fun and quite sustained but probably not 23, i think 22 is fair. I thought pitch two is even better again, being fairly moderate till about half way where it gradually gains intensity until the very end. Here the crux was made quite tricky as the entire upper section of the face was problematically saturated and almost none of the face holds were at all useable. Hence i channelled my inner trad dad and power stemmed the corner direct to glory. Not sure of the grade here; the moves would certainly be pretty gnarly for a 23 but i dont really onsight 24 and it was pretty much only the one hard sequence coming out of a good rest, so maybe it isn't too bad. The last pitch was also really cool with the traverse being awesome and super out there. I found the crux quite difficult to read and subsequently fell off After it was figured though out the moves were fine. Definitely deserving more attention! Get on it!!

Sustained, long and bit wondery 1st pitch got lost travers far left and back...2nd pitch hard start! 3rd pitch thin sustained 4th pitch brutal would say more like 24(very good to have couple of ring bolts there very, carrots would be difficult to clip) 5th first part very nice exposed rest easy wall and 6th hard a few moves at the begging. Overall awesome day out exhausted to the bottom. I wouldn't be afraid to say it is solid 24 but we didn't have ideal condition, Even though we started at 6am was super humid and yesterday heat didn't help to recover at all. Be solid in the grade and go get this one!

Super puppy first pitch. Hard without a warm-up – I felt like the fat kid in a crossfit class going up it! It hammered me. Recommend working on your endurance before jumping on it. Most pitches have difficult starts. Excellent climbing through 3rd and 4th pitches. A few committing and reachy moves on the 4th if you're short. The roof on the 5th is awesome and pumpy. Great exposure on the 6th to finish.

Will Lead pitch 1 & 3, I lead pitch 2. Pitch 1 is the most chossy and exciting, was praying my heavy ass wouldn't break any holds, I enjoyed all the pitches though, accurate grades, cool moves, good position, average rock. Nearly got sucked into the Canyon on approach, skirted around the last pagoda on the right and walked up a couple of ridges to regain the right track. We fixed a 100m rope, with a bit of a swing you can climb up the nose looking rock with slopers, find two carrots below the bolted aid line and I fixed the 100m to that anchor and rapped off with the lead rope. Climb starts in the gully, not around on the face. We pulled the rope then realised we'd gone past the start and did a sketchy 5m climb back up. Once on the top, I rapped down and swung across to the fixed static line. Jugged out. Definitely a bit of faff, but worth it.

Wow what a day and what an amazing route! Thanks Lee Cujes for the info you posted on thecrag after having done the route. It was really helpful for us.

The best pitch (and best quality rock) was definitely the 4th Crux pitch. The other pitches were generally a tad sharp and the rock quality was a little poor.

Pitches 5 and 6 had probably the worst quality rock, I had two hand-sized holds break on me on these pitches, which luckily just missed my belayer. With the added exposure pitch 6 felt extra spicy!

Being short would make pitch 4 quite tough, but the other pitches had several options for shorter folk. All in all an amazing position with some real quality climbing!

Thanks also for the recent rebolt! It would have been a huge effort and it has made this route so much more accessible - Cheers!! ^_^

Great day out. The track in is well trodden, with cairns. Rapping in was chill. So much Sandy choss at the bottom, stop at the belay rock. Loved the first 2 pitches... Rock was better than expected and slings are indeed bomber. Was still glad to top out get off the thing! I got to do the abseil and swing back to the cliff, took a few swings and finally grabbed some grass! Jumared up in an hour or so, with the sunset behind. Loved it but don't need to go back any time soon.

An excellent day's chossaneering with Thirsty. We climbed with 2 60m twins. Did 3 rappels on the way in (could have gotten away with 2 if we skipped the first U-bolts). Clipped first bolt on traverse while rappelling, but there's a slot for a #3 camalot (which we also used on the Welsh dragon's third pitch). To escape we swung across the gap to skip the aid pitch of Welsh dragon.

We drew straws and I won/lost and got/had to do the first pitch. This pitch has it all! Pulling onto the south face after the choss traverse and looking up was quite daunting. A bit of anti-barn-door knee action, cutting feet with a pinch on the arete and crunchy fins before finally topping out the most adventurous pitch of climbing I have ever done. The second pitch has an exciting start, maybe more so for the seconder. In fact I generally found seconding more difficult today on this and the Welsh dragon. Heady. The bouldery third pitch is as advertised. I did my best impression of a bolt-removal device, feet either side of the right anchor bolt, in order to reach the high first bolt. Took a fall trying to stick to climbing the arete on the first attempt. Played around and eventually found a very specific sequence and then went to the top!

This should be on everyone's list - just do your best to leave the holds on it for the next group!

Amazing! Misty morning could just make out the top of the pillar as we rapped in. 1st rap 60m rope, to 1st set of anchors, need to move slightly left as you rap or you could miss them. 2nd rap 70m. Both left as fixed lines. We trailed the 70m as we climbed.

Great climbing, especially P1 and P2, engaging and unique. A few foot holds pinged off and one hand hold at the start of p2 (Ethan said it still goes fine though). Pretty happy to insight p2, blew the onsight on the boulder problem but went fine once I worked at the beta.

We had planned on the Tyrolean traverse, but seems silly given it is a decently steep traverse + the rigging time? So we pulled the trailed rope as tight as possible through our grigris, and used the climbing rope to lower out to the main wall then jugged. Saw a few carrots and bolts on the jug out, there was a lot of space between them.

Pulled on the draws to get through the first pitch. harder than 22. Flash pumped on a cold day half way up first pitch, recovered halfway up pitch 3 Pitch 6 is awesome and 7 was my fav. Worth the hype!

First pitch was tricky. Definitely think I can can pull the roof clean, but the blank section leading to the second roof had me stumped so pulled a draw to save time. The 20 after the traverse was my favourite. 8hrs car to car done at a chill pace.

What an epic!! Didn't get benighted but holy hell did we get smashed! After the first couple of pitches we got hit by winds probably exceeding 40-50kn, felt like i was going to freeze to death on a 29 degree day. Fatigued to hell trying to hold on in the winds, was even worse on hanging belay getting blown from side to side. Collapsed out on top into the sun. Awesome!

What a fantastic day out! Got started around 10am on the actual climb. Patrick the beast onsighted the first pitch. I agree with him that there's good beta that makes it a 22 and not a super difficult pitch. We motored our way through with efficient switches to take advantage of the shade. The sun came around as I smiled on the mega traverse pitch. The next two were just as good but I was worried slightly about my arms cramping with the 5kg back pack on second. Wonderful route

Such an amazing route, with perfect weather for the day too. Highlights were definitely the first pitch and the traverse. Made pretty good time too, besides me fumbling about trying to preserve the onsight on pitch 1. Just got the sun at about 1pm on the traverse, didn't feel the heat till the walk out.

Was at the bottom of the rap in at 7:30, shared ropes with friends on another climb. Made a mess of finding the start until another group showed us the way. We let them go ahead but that gave us a chance to catch our breath after the unnecessary bush bashing. First pitch is hard so if possible bring one bag so the leader has a decent shot, really had to pace myself and manage pump. Found the following pitch a difficult second after this. Some super climbing throughout and the traverse followed by the 20 on the face is excellent. We took about 6.5 hours and brought three litres of water which we found a good amount for us. Sun hit just after traverse pitch at 1ish.

Tricky first pitch with some very thought provoking moves - was hard with a backpack and not warmed up! Some interesting moves on the second pitch then easier terrain for the rest of the climb.

First pitch had me trying very hard. A couple of sections beat me, two big whips. Very fun climbing though. Awesome how consistent it was. Pitch 2 has its fair share of spice as well! The juggy headwall was the best climbing of the day, mind boggling jugs. Top pitch is a stark change in style, worthwhile to finish on top of the world! Played 'Hotel Cali' while we topped out, yum! Thanks for being a stinker climbing partner DJ Hemo.

First pitch had me working hard, got into an awkward position with my leg in the gap under the roof let but struggled through it. Was suprised with how spicy the second pitch was, some really cool moves! Stoked to have landed with the traverse pitch and it was easily one of the nicest pitches of climbing I’ve ever done! The head wall was stunning, amazing jugs with an even more amazing view! LOVED IT

Not the 8m overhung Coolum climb I'm used to. The 22 felt like a QLD 24. Climbed pitches 2-10 with our second rope on my back - not something I'd recommend. Pitches 5, 6, 7 and 8 are great. The traverse is epic. Unfortunately, pitches 7 and up were wet. We got rained on during pitch 7 which did not help with the pump I was experiencing. The cave just before the final pitch is home to a very chonky wombat. Awesome route, great day.

The first pitch is pretty sandbagged at 22, I'd say pretty comfortably 23. Struggled a bit with endurance, as it was my first climb outdoors five months, which was, in hindsight, pretty optimistic

On the bright side everything else felt much softer at the grade than that first pitch, though the 19 traverse pitch was gripping.

I ended up leading most of the harder pitches because Alex got ruined by the first pitch. We were both shattered when we got back to the car All in all, and awesome day out.

So windy we couldn't stand straight at the belay. Used stuck clip and aided some uncertain moves. Done in 2 pitches so we could see each other since we definitely couldn't hear!

Same as last pitch. So sick of getting pushed around by the wind. Done in 2 pitches. In love with the jugs at the end!

Super fun endurance day out!! Car to car in 7 hours. 1. Aided through the first roof, did the other moves with rest. 2. Spicey bolting but otherwise nice. 3, 4 & 5. Nothing overly remarkable here. 6. so fun, 16 draws for 50m says it all. 7. Another cool pitch. 8 & 10. Wet jugs.

A high quality adventure! First pitch has excellent sections split by choss which i had a bunch of fun on! Second pitch is a funky corner filled with death choss with a cool finger crack to start. The weird placement of the end of the second pitch baffled us for quite a while so we kind of ended up doing it in 5 pitches? Getting off the top of the pinnacle is the real adventure though, with some chossy scrambling and horizontal slot shuffling it made for an awesome day!

Both pitches climb better than they look, though the rock is not great and the route hasnt really been cleaned. P2 certainly is steep at times, though unerringly juggy. Some traddy thugging.

Pulled on draws, ropes, jugged up. Just wanted to get out of there after that rock incident.

A nice line up the corner of an amazing climbing location. Good gear pretty much whenever you need it, but not a crack climb.

The 3 trad pitches were excellent quality.

The sport exit pitch nearly killed us.

Rick pulled on a microwave-and-a-half-sized boulder as he was topping out, felt it move and instinctively let go.

The block was dislodged and we think it fell onto his lead rope below and sandwiched it between the two rock surfaces.

He then fell and the force on the rope causes the boulder to fall the rest of the way off the cliff and the forces at play shred (and what looks like melts!) the sheath between the two rocks. There's about 50 cm of exposed core. But, impressively, none of the strands have broken!

I hear "ROCK!" and faceplant against the cliff face and the rock magically falls past me and none of us are dead.

A big day up Australia's newest big wall route.

Left the car at 5:23am from Perry's Lookdown and within 20 minutes of walking I rolled my ankle badly however we maintained a cracking pace to the O Tree and started climbing by 8am.

First 9 pitches climbed nicely and we were able link most pitches with our 67m rope.

passing the 11 o'clock pitch (P9) at 10:50am

Our pace then slowed on the next 5 pitches with a lil bit of excitement on the Pebble Pitch.

Finial 5 pitches I was feeling a bit worn down but we thrutched through them. (scary moment on P18 well above a bolt and a hold snapped on me )

Topped out and climbed pitch 20 on the way back to the car.

Outstanding views from P16 up

Car to car 14hrs and some change.

Thanks Will Vidler for putting up with my sub-par banter!

Cheer for all the effort of putting this line up! Michael Law Eugene Mak Jeffrey Crass

Also for reference the emergency bottles of water are still full

Great alternative to bbb with only a few more spicy moves. The second pitch up the corner is amazing along with the outrageous traverse (great lesson in pump management). The headwall felt a bit like choss mine sweeper however can’t be as bad as when it was first put up.

Free climbing Hotel California has always been a bucket list item for me and will remain on my bucket list as I’m not good enough to free it. However, I got to do it’s money pitches using this linkup. Yay.

Wish we started an hour earlier. Bit of a mess down in the valley finding it. Bushwhacking. Do a better job of planning the path than we did. Take GPS of start.

Contented cow portion doable.

Found the traverse (19) harder than the pitch after (20).

Pitch 2 (crack) & P8 (traverse) were money. Unfortunately broke a foothold on the final move of p11... choose wisely aha
