Ascents of Sweet Nightmare (Link-Up) as Onsight

Absolute amazing recommendation by Biliam Best. The second last Saccharine pitch is a pearler. Big winds and a great time

Nice chilled climbing down low then a good pump fest up top. Linked the upper 2 pitches into one.

A really great morning out. Well worth the trip and, in my opinion, is more enjoyable than BBB.

Awesome climbing, particularly P4-5; gets slightly overhung which adds some spice for a 17, but nice holds are there if you find them.

I guess it's an onsight because the crux was new ground to me, but have done the Sweet Dreams pitches before.

First two pitches are pretty rubbish, rest was pretty good.

Wish I’d done this as my first multi! Would have been perfect training for Bunny Bucket. Only need 2-3 medium to large cams. Also all the carrots seem to have been replaced with bolts or were we missing something?

First Multi-pitch ever! Fantastic route to introduce beginners to. We had the most amazing day and topped it off with a Some home brew beers and a half bottle of 2015 Penfolds St Henri Shiraz.

I should have practiced setting up my anchors at the beginning/end of each pitch before getting on a real multi-pitch. I should have started with more certainty and I didn’t. Luckily it all went well and we finished safely.

This is the beginning - I’m stoked for what’s to come!!

Fun, cruisy climbing. The 4th pitch is great.

Was a beautiful day with incredible conditions. Just over 10°C with a slight breeze. Started climbing just after 10am and were finished within two hours, just as the sun was starting to touch the lower section of slab. I linked P1 and P2, then did P3, while Matt linked P4 and P5. Turns out the carrot bolts used throughout the whole route are the broad-head type, so my bolt plates didn't fit. Plus, the flake on pitch two was much wider than the suggested .3–1 cam size, so pretty much all my cams were useless. Meant I had pretty sparse protection on the first two pitches—1 cam low on P1, two trees and the P1 anchor, then one cam for P2—all of which were extended with slings, so rope drag wasn't really an issue when bringing Matt up. The climbing was obviously very easy too, so felt quite solid and safe despite the runouts. To protect the traverse, in lieu of having any wires, I clove hitched slings to the carrot bolts. P4 is definitely the standout pitch, covering a great amount of climbing with jugs galore and a nice gentle steepness. Fantastic morning.

Nice cruisy climbing pitch 1-3. Pitch 4 is definitely the stand out had lost of fun . Longest continuous climb to date, linking pitch 4-5.
