Ascents in Deepwater Zawn

Awesome rock, huge jug pulling on steep and vertical terrain on a proud arete above deep water. Climbing doesn't get much better. I will definitely be back to do more laps on this.

SO FUN!

Had a go on this but couldn't bring myself to do the crux. Was very commiting and seemed much harder than 15. Rob tried the moves and found himself unable to back track so topped out, said it felt about 18. Seemed like a clean fall from the crux but definitely not the corner

Super fun! The grade is accurate if you do a second hand traverse out right after the first set of jugs. When above ledges a fall could be catastrophic.

Has an easy variant which is true to the grade but with bad fall potential, and a harder variant that is extremely exposed but should be safe to fall from. Got locked in by a heel hook and had to go for it, cutting loose on the next move was scary and fun

My first DWS, thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Did the easy variation which involves walking up the ramp that is just below the top out.

Pretty epic, the lowest traverse variation is on a very juggy rail but is above a submerged rock and avoids the arete move (topo). Crux sequence around the arete is incredible but possibly slightly harder than a 15 (photo)

Incredible climbing out over water and edge of cave. Great gear. Surprised it isn't higher star rated!

I think I went off route but it was still fun. Bit intimidating with the waves crashing at my feet. Cool exposure.

Only a couple of grade 14 moves, rock and pro are a bit average bit it's a great position.

By far one of the best routes I did at Freycinet.

bit hard to define the exact line, but we think we got it right, great exposure and climbing

awesome exposure over the cave. A bit of dodgy pink rock.

absolutely awesome, needed to do more ropework though. crux was pulling against drag in last part of traverse.

Really should lead it again - I got a bit lost! After six days' straight climbing my brain had died! Magnificent atmosphere, though!

Very atmospheric. I think I went too far left in the first half and ended up on some terrible chossy rock, then had to deal with massive drag after traversing back to the right.

Finally got on this, exciting and unlikely climbing, exposed and exilerating traversing 30m above crashing sea on overhanging jugs, nearly slipped off once on salty jug. Didn't use any gear over 0.75 cam and finger sized wires, rope drag was good with plenty of long runners, double ropes not necessary. Gear adequate but more would have given confidence. Best 17 around hands down

A block has fallen away since last time which makes it more roofy with higher feet on the traverse.

Still grade 17 despite the large broken blocks. Awesome, super exposed climbing on the traverse that kept me on edge the whole time
