26 | The Proverbial - with Brendan Heywood, carol lee | 15m, 4
Had a play on this until the second bolt at which point we realised a) this will need some work and b) that we were here to hone our crack climbing. Will have to come back for this one.

21 | ★★ Chewin Fat With The Paleo Brat - with Brendan Heywood, carol lee | 20m | ★★ Very Good
Oh my god. I should've learnt by now that this is not a route to leave until the end of the day. Did all the moves with a rest and finished with a good whipper from the final holds. That was enough. A few notes; 1) this is far from a 21 (felt more like a 24 but fatigue may've played a part), 2) delicate climbing and finicky pro, and 3) kudos to Cazza on a fantastic lead (even if she is a dirty sandbagger ). Thanks for the catch and your patience, Skippy!

Had a fall before giving it another go. Second attempt was better. Great climbing and a very burly finish. Classic!

First climb of the day and a little damp up top.

A beautiful thing. An Ebor classic.
|
|||||||
21 | ★★ Chewin Fat With The Paleo Brat - with Ben Vincent, carol lee | 20m
Gave Ben a catch on this. Jeez this is nail biting even as the belayer, marginal gear, technical, loose in parts. Ben fought it valiantly for maybe 45 mins and then unzipped from the top then we bailed.
|
|||||||
26 | The Proverbial - with Ben Vincent | 15m, 4
Belayed Ben on this and we bailed on second bolt
|
|||||||
21 | ★★★ Luce - with Ben Vincent, carol lee | 20m | ★★★ Classic
This thing is amazing. Fell on the low crux, figured out the sequence and it was great. Perfect jamming and good rests all the way to the top. And then it turns into a complete grovel after the roof
|
|||||||
20 | ★★ Prime Cut - with Ben Vincent, carol lee | 20m | ★★ Very Good
Lead this on Carol's gear. Super happy with everything, did basically the whole climb and then just slumped at literally the last hold.

Usual story, flash pump and then had a rest, then clean to top after I was warm

21 | ★★ Chewin Fat With The Paleo Brat - with Richard Curtis | 20m
carol lee That is the biggest sandbag I've ever climbed. Tried to climb, actually. It is at least a very stiff 23, to me it felt even more like a solid 24! Then again, it was my first and only day of climbing here at Ebor and maybe I was just spoiled by the 'easy grading' at Frog
Anyway, this place is certainky worth visiting! |

19 | ★★ Anxiety Attack - with carol lee | 20m
We decided we had one more in us if we were fast and this looked good on paper. It turned out to be 1/3 vegetated. carol lee led with a few falls while I slowly froze after sunset getting showered in multiple flurries of dirt and farmers friends. I declined to second.

22 | ★★★ Pub Grubs And Bloody Greenies - with carol lee | 20m | ★★ Very Good
carol lee had a few cracks at this but was defeated by the wet spooge gushing out of the first meter of the crack. Jumped on and was pretty happy to power through this and up to half way to the last good stance before the hand crack widens to not-quite-fists and then I regressed into the worse pumped out dogging / aiding / grunting. Finally got to the head wall and then went right for a subterranean burrow (after being warned by Ben Vincent not to go this way)

23 | FA ★★★ Pub Grubs And Bloody Greenies - with Ben Vincent | 20m | ★★★ Classic
Seconded Ben with a few rests. The first strenuous fingery layback moves from the ground - and getting established immediately afterwards seemed harder than 22. Based on the principle that a climb shouldn't be given a grade easier than its hardest move, I'd take that into account.

|||||||
23 | FA ★★ Chewin Fat With The Paleo Brat - with carol lee | 20m | ★★★ Classic
Seconded Carol on this with a few rests, I accept that I'm a bit long in the tooth for this sort of thing but but it seemed much harder than 21 to me. Possibly no individual moves harder than 22 but string them together (with nothing between which qualifies as a real rest) and take into account the technical nature of the moves... and you've got yourself a 23. OK that's my two bob's worth... Comments anyone?

Found this really technical and sequency and had to bail in the end (I can still hear Carol snickering). Will have to come back and try this fresh. A few more ascents will sort out the grade but so far I think it's harder than the 21 it's been given

Did i get this right? Bright orange double cracks... Looks perfect. VERY dusty. Very loose rocks up top, belayer beware. Would climb as a brilliant hand jammer if it had a pressure clean :p
Felt alot harder than the grade?
The dust is frictionless.
