Anyone climbing this variant should note that pitch 7 (the alternative to the original route via the chimney) is extremely runout; I only managed to place 2-3 pieces of tenuous gear the entire 55m before the DBB.

This was really enjoyable, chimney wasn't as big as I thought it would be. Someone painted ticks on all the holds on the climbing sections, not sure if it always been like this but definitely takes a bit away from the experience.

pretty cool and amazing that non climbers get to the top of this. that first ledge out of the cave was incredible, i thought it was pretty exposed

Roped up for the more exposed pitches but there is only sparse, average protection anyway. The chimney pitch was good with a couple of grade 15 moves just to the right of the chimney to get started then easy to the top. Descent via tourist route.

What an amazing route. After reading Michael Meadows history of QLD climbing I have been looking forward to this and it did not disappoint. Missed out on pitch 1 in favour of Zeitgeist. Chimney pitch was a sketchy down-climb after the rain hit, needed to use some accessory cord to rappel the last couple of meters.

34 degree temperature didn't help. Mosquitoes threatened to carry us away. Grant NOT IMPRESSED with the "souvenir" he stood in, right in the middle of the track near the summit. Yeah, Grant... unfortunately it does happen... grubs. My gratitude and appreciation to whoever installed the series of rapping anchors. They are easily accessed and excellently placed to facilitate a fast and safe descent. Overall, a big but very enjoyable day out.

Can't believe I waited this long to do this gem. Did the classic finish via the chimney. Since I was alone and it was my first time on the route, I nearly backed down from doing the move, until some rando started shouting beta at me from the summit! The encouragement proved sufficient to motivate me up and into the chimney, and onward to the summit in under an hour from the car park. Could have been faster if I hadn't gotten off route near the second cave. Made a few irreversible, exposed moves and kept motoring. Descended via the tourist track.

Up the slab out of Cave 1 is the most exposed, and the corner move out of Cave 1 is very exposed too. Other than this, its a fun scramble.
