Ascents in Mount Roland

Repeat. With Nate. Climbed in about 6 or 7 hours as 9 (or maybe 11? We lost count.) pitches at a very casual pace. Still a great scramble with some really cool exposed climbing interspersed with a lot of scrambly bits. Would probably have worked well to simul with 30 m of rope between us, but it was nice to take our time on it.

Simuled with Dylan while Lee made his own way. Unknowingly did this with a kidney infection and a fever, so it was a hard day out. But great to get up high and the gully descent was also cool in it's own right. Nighttime trip to the hospital to cap it all off.

Lovely ramble! Very limited exposure for the height. Mixed soloing and roped up sections. Took it another 150m going up the summit to the left

Had a little solo Adventure while the guys were Running the Tripple Top Mountain race. Superb day, maybe a bit windy at the top making the last knife edge feel exciting. 2:45 Car-Car racing the storm clouds coming in. 60m static for raps was just short; the decent involed some down climbing I'd like to have rapped, 60 dynamic would have enough stretch I'd think.

Party of three and we kept decent pace. The descent is a whole mini adventure on its own.

Epic day out. First 5 pitches in the clouds with wet rock. Very slow going, I got off route and tried pulling through a difficult move and took a whip 😅! 12 hours car to car

Started up the first 4-5 pitches in cloud; very slippery! After the walk accross at 1/3 height we did an alternate harder pitch up a noice crack just left of the deepest middle bit. Went up to join an arête which lead to a roof. Traversed R under this (exciting) then up R. Superb climbing, and the views off the top when the weather cleared were next level. Slings and biners/ maillons on the way down were in good condition. Replaced one or two things.

Placed 2 pieces of gear on the whole climb, may as well tick it as a solo. So! Good!

Took our gear planning to rope up for the crux piches, but we were feeling good and went all the way without needing to. 7 hours car to car.

beta - if youve called steve and hes given you the all clear, its fine to walk past the no trespassign signs through his property. no need to bush bash as we did great condis and happy times, simuled first 100m or so then megapitched it out. just about 6h climbing including a bit of waiting for other parties and <2h for the descent with one rope

Great day out and an awesome exposed climb for the grade. Definitely a stiff 12 if that's your Max... or maybe I was a little off route, seemed like the easiest way but hard to tell. Either way, mega Classic for sure!

Bailed after not very much climbing. Had made some poor gear choices (including shoes), then somehow made some horrible route finding decisions early on which ate tons of time. Weren't in the mood for an epic.

Big day out climbing with Dad for the first time in a long time. Cloudy conditions meant we missed most of the view, but the climbing was fun and engaging and the rappels just as interesting. Awesome experience!

Got an hour or two of clear weather in the middle but otherwise thick fog which made the experience feel slightly pointless. Definitely a cool climb for what it is though. Think we did 12 pitches - hard to do long ones at the start because we could never see more than 20m ahead to plan anchors & drag properly. Took half ropes, agree that it's not helpful to make any of the abseils longer than 30m, but setting up 2 abseils at once helped get down efficiently.

Great day out - good exposure and amazing views. We were roped up all the way because it was a little damp in the lower third from rain the day before and my partner wasn't keen to do otherwise but it can easily be done without much of that at all. It was maybe 14ish pitches which I lead all the way. Some were long pitches, others were short to manage the drag. Rope drag is hard to avoid unless you double extend your placements. The climbing itself is around grade 12/13 and doesn't get much harder than that. The rock is bomber, as is the gear. I had a single rack which was more than enough but wasn't placing a lot of gear. Route finding isn't too hard, just stay to the left as you look up and it should sort itself out.

Started walking in at 7.30 and started climbing at 9. The climb starts where the trail ends. Topped out at 6pm and began the abseils in the nice jungle environment. Hit the ground at 8.20pm, was back in the car at 9.

We used a single rope, it's all you need. Taking two (so you can rig the next abseil while pulling down the other rope) would speed it up a bit but not by much.

What an adventure. Took a single rack, single rope and stuck to the RHS with some pitches feeling more like grade 16. There are so many lines to take that you could do this route several times without crossing the same ground. The cruisy exposure is like nothing else. Absolute classic. Thanks Steve!

Great day out. Took 2 ropes as recommended, however, never super useful for eliminating rope drag and reducing no. of abseils. Would recommend a single 60m. Abseils were surprisingly nice. Great day out. 9hrs Car-Car

Unbelievable day out. Went off track almost immediately and ended up on the harder right side of the ridge. Ended up being more like 14-15ish most of the way. Awesome exposure and suprisingly good climbing and rock. Abseils are world class.

Stuck right the whole way, made it a bit engaging. Absolute ripper day!!

Alt lead with Dave. A nice alpine journey and canyon descent, great views. Pitching was a pain in the butt due to rope drag despite placing minimal gear except belays. Nice to have Keith along.

Mostly moved together, I would guess that pitching up the whole thing would be a pain
