Ascents in Central Tablelands by Simon Ellis

Sustained and engaging climbing in fantastic positions up a brilliant wall with awe inspiring views of the Grose Valley.

Hard start off the log, straight into the crux. Awesome airy positions on the upper pitches. Dogged up the first pitch. Second 2 pitches clean.

Memorable climbing all the way. Quite run out and scary in a few places on P2. First climb after the COVID-19 imposed break, so perhaps felt a bit harder and scarier than it should, or maybe it is just a bit hard and scary. The ramp at the end is brilliant. Led P1,2,4.

Always brilliant. Interesting climbing the whole way, great gear, never desperate.

Such good jams...

It seems like this should be really do-able, but somehow I can't do it. Done with one rest previously, this time the lower crack felt very slippy and I rested lots.

Very hard in the thin crack, I find the finger locks very insecure, and the alternative laybacking very barn-doory.

Foggy start to the day, got lost trying to find rap down Jugantor, almost got ropes stuck on rap - turned into a glorious winter day's climbing! The climbing was engaging and well bolted, some pure slabbing high up in a great position in the middle of a grey wall.

Another ascent of this. Really enjoyed this route - interesting moves in the wide crack down low, then really enjoyable to the top.

Superb jamming.

Led in one pitch - quite a lot of rope drag though! Such an enjoyable climb.

Struggled my up to clean the route. Very good moves - wish I could have strung a couple together!

Failed halfway up the top crack. No excuses, ran out of steam. Excellent gear. Will be back.

Brilliant steep pumpy climbing. Pump induced tunnel vision at the crux - and I missed the sequence and rested.

Excellent, and engaging climbing the whole way. I found the protection to be adequate, but you need to search for it and be comfortable leading above your gear at the grad; exciting trad climbing!

Brilliant and rewarding Blueys face climbing.

Excellent climbing up a great line. Always interesting, but never desperate. Fine positions, great views of Narrow Neck, and quite exposed. The access is interesting too!

Nice thin blueys face climbing, requiring a steady approach. Well bolted.

Another ascent of this brilliant climb. One of my favourite cracks in the mountains. This time I led P1, 2nd P2. Such a stunner of a route.

Excellent climbing up a beautiful corner which eats no. 1 cams. Pumpy but surprisingly positive laybacking.

Fantastic climbing, up a brilliant line. Some quite hard moves, but also some good rests. I think 20 would be a fairer grade (although I only seconded!)

Led P1 up the brilliant jam crack. P2 has some great moves, but is a bit dirtier than P1 with some friable rock, but excellent gear.

Interesting and engaging climbing.

Led P1 and 2 together to make an exciting 30m pitch. An absolute classic climb - enjoyable and exciting.

Tricky to gain the lower crack, then decidedly difficult to surmount the overhang. I ran out of steam working out the roof. Good climbing and good gear.

I love this route, but my recommendation of it has now got me labelled as a sandbagger.

Good fun juggy climbing

Exciting climbing in excellent positions. Still felt run out in places, even with the new bolts; it must have been very bold before! Started slightly to the right after being repulsed by the direct.
