Freshwater Beach

Some decent bouldering on the beach and rock platform at the north end.

Much more adventurous climbing at the south end with some bigger sea cliffs. There are some reasonable looking boulders here that have probably been climbed at some point in the past.

Boulder problems near the pool at the northern end of Freshwater Beach.

Beach Boulders

Boulders on the beach. At high tide there's water around the base of most of the boulders, and sand stays damp for a fair while after. Bring a towel or something to clean your shoes between routes.

V1 Slopesville

Fun little number

V6 Bulge It

start on the bulge and campus to a hard mantle.

V7 Sand Rock Traverse

Start on the far left of the boulder. Traverse right on slopey crimps not using the break above you. If you use the break it is v4.

V2 We love a good heel

Start left side overhang left heel on, up & traverse through jugs, slight jump from middle jug to right jug, add a grade for topping out right using crimps & over slopers , otherwise using seat

V2 Jantler

Sit start on the two jugs on either side of the feature. Straight up and top out.

V2 Salty

Sit start from the two jugs, heel hook to the left and then up to the right arrete and out.

V1 Shalf

Sit start, hands on the shelf, up the right arrete and out

V4 Ouch My Knee

Sit start with hands on the side-pull/under-cling on the right, feet anywhere but the bottom ledge is out. move to the under-cling in the middle then go straight up the face, easy jugs on the sides are out.

V2/3 Coronaverse

Traverse left to right along the underhang.

VB Juggler

Start on the two bigs jugs, go straight up.

V1 Slopestyle

Start on the sloper shelf, up on slopes & jug

V3 Coronaverse Extended

Start from the beginning of coronaverse, fun little bat hang beta on the lip above the starting holds for 'Salty' . Then continue traversing around the corner using a left heel hook. Traversing the corner of the boulder is the crux, then just continue traversing to the second jug past Holy and top out on 'Slopestyle'

V3 Coronaverse Extended... Extension

Start same as for coronaverse, bathang beta as you come around the corner. Keep traversing same as for coronaverse extended but instead of topping out keep traversing to the big jug as for floz then top out up and left.

V0 Holy

Start on the two undercling jugs, up using the holes and out

V1 Floz

Start matched on the big jug, up around the left and out

V2 Ironing

Start on the two undercling jugs & straight up

V1 Chimps

Start on the sloper/pocket, up using the sandy crimps

V3 Spiderman

Start with hands on the side pulls and feet in the pocket to the left, on the right side of the feature. traverse around the corner and top out, bottom ledge is out.

V2 Ouch My Finger

start on Juggy holds on the sides of the feature, feet anywhere except the bottom ledge, up to sloper on left then top out.

Freshwater North End
Headland

~100 meter long wall on the headland above the beach. Rock is pretty soft but there's some good spots. Loads of cracks.

Feel free to add new route/projects!

Beware of broken glass/rubbish (maybe consider taking some out with you )

VB the spider

straight forward climb starting Pocket rockets rail then traversing across and up the pillar with cracks. and top out above using easy jugs and foot holds. Watch for spiders, they aint pretty and test all holds.

V2 Pocket rocket

(Test all holds) Start on rail at bottom ( broken off but improved) and feet on highest ledge, she’s a chossy start. Lunge to the 2 finger pocket and grab the side pull to the left. Pretty gentle Dyno to the rail and top out above using a left heel and nice jugs on the boulder above. Boulder to the left is out. Video on @zekewhitfield Instagram climbing story highlights

Freshie North Shore

Nice boulder, only accessible at low tide. Landing is mostly wet sand with only 1 rock in the way that can be covered with spotters and a single moving pad.

V1 The Nose

Start with left hand in the pocket on the side facing the beach and right hand on the other side on crimp. Top out to complete the climb.

Rock Platform Overhang

Long overhanging boulder on the rock platform northeast from the pool. Only accessible at low tide.

V3 Hand Ripper eliminate

Sit start on the shelf below the boulder. Jugs are NOT in. Traverse using the edges to a nice topout.

V2 Sea Roof

Traverse left-to-right avoiding the top and ending at the tip of the overhanging rock.

V3 Freshie Boulder Circumnavigation

Start as for Sea Roof and go all the way around, topping out on far right side.

V0 Over and up

Start far left, move right and then up through.

V1 Just Jug It

Lip is out until the end.

v? project

start underclinging the small edge in the cave and go out through small edges to top out. Don not start the other way around otherwise knock a grade off. Grade: unknown.

Sea cliffs on the Queenscliff end of Freshwater Beach.

16 I like to ride my bicycle

Near over hanging belay ledge, traverse out or start form below, avoid dirty and loose rocks up slabs before no hands rest and then slightly chossy but good roof walk off from below roof possible.

18 Gakwers

Start: Behind the big boulder. Scramble up a few metres then up the nice twin cracks to a big ledge. Up the wall above (3 manky BRs) to a big chossy cave. Up the inside of the cave and over the top. Tree belay. FAR: Tony Burns, Andrew Barker 17/02/2007

20 Damocles

8m left of Gawkers. Up to platform with huge block. Move 4m left to vertical groove in centre of East face of block. (Gawkers heads up the North face). Platform at top of block. Up overhanging layback. 2 new SS BB.

CAUTION: The large overhanging block left of the layback has crack almost completely around it.

Start: Start: 50m along cliff face from beach. Head left up diagonal crack in blank wall.

V1 cracked fingers

go up the crack and top out to complete

V1 Slab of Corona

start with feet on pockets, hands wherever. head up the slab, top out to complete.
