Ascents of The Horse Has Bolted having Beta

Tough route.

pretty stiff 19 but keen to get the tick

The bolting + topo in the guidebook for this area is all over the place. Thought I was on 'shut the gate'. Great route regardless but stiff at 19 for sure, not quiet sure how short people would do the start

Stopped at the first anchors as I just wanted a bit more of a warmup

Great holds all the way through with a couple of tricky moves.

Draws kindly placed by Will, finished at the lower anchor having done the upper part previously. Really nice moves up the flake followed by a pumpy finish.

Had a rest. Super fun climbing!

Sustained climbing, was too pumped and had a rest at the last bolt in the corner. Climbed the route as described in the latest paper guide, which I think is shown as the direct start on The Crag? Thin and reachy start leads to reachy move to gain the flake, mantle to gain the big horizontal then hope you have enough juice to stem and layback to the top of the corner. Final slab is okay but you're not missing much if you finish at the lower DRBB.

Pumped like a maniac when I was new to outdoors. 4 Lovely moves off juggy crack and I'm sweet. Great climb

A reachy move and some nice lay backs

Tricky start.

AWESOME climb. Sparse flat wall to a flake then mantle then slightly overhung layback. Then a basic slab over the top. Peek around the corner to the right at the anchors for a nice view of a little waterfall!

Great climb. Pumpy. Sandbagged 19.

Ha, presumed there would be a good hold at start on a 19. Shame the crack is bolted, and way too many bolts in this area. May even have gone up the 18 start.....

Great sport/trad climb with hard moves towards the top.
