Ascents in Mt Walsh

Cool climbing, not so cool rock quality.

Hand down the best slab climb at that grade ive ever climbed to date.

Good find and effort by Joe awsome climbing and great movement on some not so good/average rock.

FFA. Not bad for an access route.

Some chossy bits, some good bits and some don’t fall bits.

Good lead by Joe! With many no fall zones and some nasty rooten rock. There are some really excellent sections of climbing followed by some really shit sections of climbing.

Just the first pitch too hot at 28° to stick the crux moves

The gear was hard to place at crux classic slab pitch

Tricky slab at the start into an easy crack. A bit of flakey rock on the top slab.

A tad bit contrived perhaps but couldn't resist all those amazing little pockets on the face.

Tricky slab to layback crack to finger crack to pleasant slab (if you trust your feet).

Difficult first pitch, but the second pitch was a lot of fun. Beautiful pink granite.

FFA. Attempted this line back in June with Andrew on our first trip here. I had to aid through the middle section and then had to retreat because I didn't have a #5 for the offwidth. Returned with a vengeance planning to finish the climb and to my surprise got it free. It took a fair bit off mental resilience for me in the offwidth.

First time placing RP's and microcams. An interesting climb which really challenged me physically and mentally.

FFA. Really cool climbing out of the cave. I finished up right to get a few more meters of climbing in.

Really unexpected climbing as you can't see the offwidth from the start.

No skin left on my knee after this chimney. Good old gruntfest.

Spent a lot of time on abseil trying to clean this out. Unfortunately the upper section of the crack is still fused with choss and barely climbable. It's a shame because the start and middle ain't too bad.

FFA. Cool moves pulling onto the aeret and up tiered face. Some hard thin modes on each buldge. Pitch 2 seconded run out scrabble to move moves on trad with plenty good placements to single bolt anchor and natural pro

FFA. A super clean crack in solid rock with bomber pro. A nice offwidth, protectable with mid-sized gear at the back, quickly turns into a smorgasbord of hand-jams and finger-locks. A very memorable onsight.

To warn out to get to the top of this one. Really nice moves through out worth a run!

Very nice. Good moves and rock in a cool position. Was too tired to pull through the crux at the top.

FFA. Good to come back 4 months latter for the tick. Had to fight for it still!

Top rope with two falls working out bolt placements ran out of time for the lead next time.
