Ascents in The Underground having Beta

Clear crux for me was not being bad at releasing the toehook before the karate kick

Still feeling stronger but a serious lack of sleep probably denied this todat. Pumped off multiple times heading into kneebar.

Pleasantly surprised to find that after a big break from climbing over summer my strength isn't too bad. My endurance however needs work.

Super fun route

Great working session. Got through the crux into the easier climbing but topout was way too wet so I tried blasting out aikosof instead but pumped off. Probably makes for a slightly harder climb, but would fit the trend of the other cave classics

Still a banger

Pretty stoked to take this thing down. First of the grade for me and it seems fitting it happened in the underground, the same place that got me into outdoor bouldering. Honoured to hop on the send train with Tim on this 3D cave classic!

So many cool holds, really fun 3 dimensional climbing! Gus got the send train chugging!!

Humid solo session. Found consistent beta for transitioning into the undercling jugs at the end of the crux.

Put up a considerable fight as I refined beta. Too many moves for my monkey brain, as is often the theme at the underground

Linked in two parts! First session on this thing and progress was surprisingly quick. One move and a long V4 guards the send.

Such satisfying moves, a classic of the cave for sure!

Stellar climb. The top-out is more satisfying than Shinkansof and I'd dare say easier as well.

Absolutely stoked! I wanted to tick off Shinkansen first but forgot my head torch today and didn't have a spotter to move the light.

Crazy the difference a slightly healthier hamstring makes

the RH hold you use before moving to the jugs where the two feet go at the end is pure soot

I milked the life out of the pocket rest and it went smoothly. Still a pump fest.

Start holds broken due to fire started in cave. Still goes but feels harder than before.

What a battle. Pumped off on the last jug of too-soft.

Dream line for me. Took over a dozen sessions. Worth it.

I think we may have found different beta to the first ascensionist. Similarly, keping hands in the thin crack, but as underclings instead. Making it a bit easier for us.

Suggesting solid V8 because relative to other v8's i've sent this feels in the ball park of those.

Got the send train going on this today. 3rd session on, feel as though it should be graded 7B+ (v8/9). I skipped the broken hold and went straight to the rail at the start and stayed in the undercling until I got into the v4. Totally different beta to what I have seen and feel as though this alt beta was easier then the FA. No disrespect to the grade but for me it felt 7B+

Went the other day and sent again and believe it should be v9. The crimp at the beginning is broken but I don’t think it makes it harder. Rest of the moves though suit v9 grade

Tough moves at the start and a long grind to top. Interested to see if the climb holds at v10. Had to dial in beta over a number of sessions. First moves hard and great, crux move for me was a left hand bump from small crimp to jug at the start of the easier climbing. Interested to see what others think as it gets some more traffic. Great route!

Believe this is the 3rd ascent. Spent a good 3 months trying this most weekends, finally went after some very dialed beta. The first start crimp in the ceiling has broken and is maybe 30% smaller than it was originally, the first 2 moves is definitely the crux now. I sent using the crimp but I realized you can also skip this hold and do a massive shouldery move to the bigger rail, both ways feel similar difficulty. Personally I felt this is more V8 / V9, definitely closer to V9 after the hold break. Whole climb very much suited my style though, so curious to see what others think.
