Thu 28th May 2020 - Neagle's Rock
V4 | ★ Lover's Quarrel (Lover's Retreat project) | 5m
I thought this line looked half decent - straight up the blankest part of the wall. Gave it a few half-hearted attempts, but same problem with seeping water blocking useful footers, plus didn't feel like jumping to what I assumed was a hold about at 4-4.5m with no spotters
V3 | ★ Avoidance Procedure | 3m
Actually quite a nice climb, although that might just be because it's about the only line here that isn't a borderline choss-solo. Only concern is the higher side-pull looked a little flimsy. Might be hard for the grade
V1 | Action Potential | 5m | |||||
Lots of water seeping on lower half of wall. Thought I could climb around it, but several of the dry footers were large loose blocks - stemmed back onto the tree, tried a higher hand hold and it too was loose, so, nope. Didn't feel any harder than TNHL
V0 | The Neagle has Landed | 4m
An alright climb I suppose, nicest looking of the recorded lines. Conditions were pretty bad, lots of water seeping on lower half of wall. Rock also kind of suspect, so only used stuff which was definitely solid, making this feel pretty hard. The other two routes were completely soaked and have very poor falls, and The Smell Of Victory looks like it now has a rose bush in the way..

V0 | FA ★★ Not Specifically Offensive | 3m
Climbed this with Hannah/Pete/Alex this some time last year but can't remember when (bit irrelevant as it's almost definitely been climbed long before that anyway). Wouldn't be a bad climb if the rock was a little less sandy
V0 | FA Gritty Frog | 3m | |||||
The first move of frogged feet to a left-hand cross-over is actually pretty nice move, just same about the usual sandyness

Surprisingly nice and varied climb for being so short. Quite crimpy. Climb past the lip seems to be easier the shorter you are (in descending heights; Fabian sturggled, I found it slightly awkward, Wen floated past it)
12 | ★ Beware of Low Flying Trucks - with Wen, Fabian, Francesc, Lu | 8m, 2
Fun. Bolts seem in reasonable condition. Set up top-rope of massive steel bolt plus top-carrot. Nice spot.

18 | Flight of the Pigeon - with , Alex, Hannah | 8m | ★ Good
Novel place. Aside from a few inches of dried bird-poop on the top ledge, was a good climb. First time using bolt plates. Climb to first clip was definitely hardest part, second bolt was clippable one move up, last was clippable with waist at the 2nd, which was quite nice.. Bolts seemed in decent condition from what I could tell.
There is a slightly rusty bolt+padlock on a beam at top. Set up toprope from two draws of that (backed up by a 120cm sling and a locking binner). Abseiled of with rope wrapped around a beam as it was much more trustworthy than the rusty old chains |

Wanted to lead this until I saw the condition of the hangars. Next time I'll be replacing the hangars and making them safer. Still shedding holds. Technical, balancy moves on thin holds. stayed to the right of the bolts. No wonder it felt way harder. My sights are set on the project to the right!
