Ascents in The Cathedral as Retreat

Just trying to learn hand jamming

First came down this end to belay Cedric on his proji but were repelled by a veritable army of leeches (he has been avoiding them by top rope soloing and standing on a rock in between)

Belay tick for Cédric's send (putting the draws on! But he's put a lot of work into it before). I have fondled the slab on the way down from Anticoagulant... it ain't for me!

Was breezing up and feeling great until the crux moves. Tried a few ways, but ended up breaking a small chip off a foothold (still plenty of it left, and not sure how useful it is). Bailed soon after.

saw some recent activity and I was inspired. (Read: someone else cleaned the sand off yay). As first climb I planned to dog it trying to warm up. Turns out I needed to aid it to get anywhere. Something to come back for when I'm in a sport climbing mode at the theej (which is a rarity). After our shutdown the heavens opened and the glorious red triangle frog took to the trees, presenting a cathedral phenomenon I had never seen before! The thin bottom half is really fun. I just can't get through that buldge. Gonna change it to an open project if anyone cares to give it ago. Try it if you are good with thin hand sizes or have thin hands.

Used as a warm up (it might not have been a great idea as it is at my red point level). I went quite far into the climb and gave up 2/3 into the climb to keep it as a warm up. I used a bit of jamming on the crack which is probably outside of the route. Interesting climb tho.

Bailed. Scary af. Top is slimy and there's no bolts or holds for 5m.

PSA to the burly and (try) hard nut punters: everyone get your mitts all over this puppy! needs some tlc to clear out some sand

Forgot that 'hand and fist crack' at the Cathedral is usually a disgusting deep fister for me and also that the sun sets very fast in winter. Thin steep crack start was alright but the fist roof was like... can't get feet up, can't get another jam except super deep, getting real stuck... But the rest looks really fun, keen to come back with good light.

Haha. Should've listened to Josephine Roper when she said it was hard as nails. Finally thrutched up until I got a hand jam, but ran out of juice and the desperate bit above didn't looked enticing anymore. Bailed!

Can't really top out because the friction slab is covered in wet moss.

Offwidth scary & fun once I got the technique down. Super run out at points. Freaked out between 2nd last bolt and anchors on face. Coming back to finish this one.

Got spat out by the crack and took my first proper trad fall. Back to crack school for me!

did the v smoothly this time but it started raining and the layback was very slippery so lol, we will meet again

Jumped on this at the end of the day in failing light - bit of an adventure! Got baited by some chalk marks very deep in the chimney, climbed high above the third bolt and then realised I couldn't progress, down-climbed back to the bolt to re-assess but the light was pretty far gone by then. Couldn't figure out how to use the thin jugs on the wall and decided to bail off - but looking at the photos apparently I was the wrong way around? Explains why it felt so wrong haha - will defs be coming back for this.

Really good varied climb. Tricky crux move above the last bolt which took about 30 minutes to work out. Unfortunately I pumped out and couldn't do the slopey finish.

Boulder problem at the start was fun, but then delicate feet and some funny pockets in the crack where off putting.
