Fairly smooth sailing today on this classic route. Insane movement in an outrageous position!! Rock definitely could do with an exfoliation haha. Route was suffering from pretty bad spooge.. Which I guess is usual? Made pulling through all the cruxes super exciting. Sadly pulled on cams during pitch 6 and couldn’t get the completely clean send. All things considered; very happy with the day. About as fun as it gets!!

Conditions depending; this might not be as chossy as it felt at first blush; as it was- most of it felt like sandy rock basted in cold wet vaseline.
Stars for the position and the movement, and the mission of bolting this thing; but reaching a hand-jam-rest that you've been eyeing up, only to find it full of cold wet grease that sticks to your hands and is immune to chalk, left me dispirited to say the least. Hopefully it cleans up with some more traffic, lots of loose flakes and rock dust around, and maybe we just got unlucky with the spooge. We set a 70m fixed line to cut the raps in half, and stashed water and food at the halfway mark. Pre-equipped the 24, and then the second-to-rap clipped the rope above them at halfway on the final rap, so as not to launch the rope into the sea as we pulled it. Definitely bring a helmet, and keep a tight-squint while belaying to avoid the rock chips raining down from above. Took us about 9-10 hours from car to car. very impressed with Jake's onsight of pitch 2 despite it being covered in cold grease, and I took a king whip through the roof on pitch 3, which was a real thrill. Pitch 4 and 5 were 3 star, would repeat. Finally, to add to the drama of the day, I opted to leave my pocket unzipped on the rap for a bit of added spice. Predictably resulting in the launching of my phone straight out of said pocket, from the very top, down into the deep dark abyss. All in all, a long day of type 2 fun. would recommend. |

Water was less cold than anticipated for Autumn, and the swell wasn't too bad...
While getting back to the main land we had some problems with the Tyrolean... 70 m may not be enough to double up the rope from 3rd pitch down... We ended up having to join a 70m and 60m rope to make it all the way down

Rad day out!
The climbing was a touch dirty in places but that's expected as this is an epic place. The 26 pitch was great, the boulder problem in the corner felt hard but I'm a bit out of shape. Solved with granite squirm style! A knee pad would change things. There where a couple of spots where clipping was difficult, pre equip for sure. The desperate and scary mantle got easier as I pulled a minger off leaving a positive slot. |

A 5 year dream realize.
Onsited the 24 first pitch, it wasn't to bad and good fun. The rock on the whole pillar is immaculate with just a couple hidden holds. I was given the chance to onsite the second pitch so I gave it 110% and came up gold. Long pitch with two crux's so good and such a wild spot. Topped out and noticed a guy taking photos of me from the main land. He left me his bussniess card on my bag. A climb I will never forget.

Fun. Don't do much bouldering, but think the grade may be soft...

P1 a bit wierd but ok and seemed hard for 20
P2 not as long as the description and seemed much easier than 23
P3 One tiny bit that's hard and you could climb 1m left to make it way easier or 1m right to make it way harder. Tricky to figure out how to make it 25 onsight.
Great rock and position though!

Awesome route, the rock is super. The top section is thin and a bit soft for the grade. Long and great moves all the way.

And why not..
Don't underestimate these long climbs, this one is 35m plus and many spots where you could blow it. I Iucked and muscled it thought the low crux but really to dig deep up the very top thin and tricky corner.
Awesome.

This route is all time! The first couple of meters were drenched and a little sketchy but the route is so good. Onsighted deep play as first pitch then onsighted (just) the 2nd pitch of the free route. The climbing and position are superb. Doesn't get much better.

Another dream send to add to the list of mind-blowing climbing memories. Climbed with Gene. P1 - Onsight via Deep Play; P2 - Onsight; and P3 (short trad climb to the summit) - Flash. Adventurous rope management, epic position and staggering sustained arete movement for the full 40m of the money pitch. Hard, thin, tricky to read but blessed by sticky rock. This is truly world-class and I am stoked to be a part of it.

A climb in 3 sections... crazy steep start with big moves on good holds to a rest; shorter, less-steep and less juggy middle-section to another rest; And a final face-climbing headwall with tricky, improbable moves on not-so-good holds to the anchor. The upper section makes this climb! The anchor (which is actually for another climb to the left) needs to be moved about 1m right.

Super-psyched! It's not often I get to boast about onsighting a 35m gr25 mixed climb in Tassie! Engaging crack climbing for 15m on gear (at about grade 23) with some involved and improbable gear-protected moves. Then an outlandish fridge-hugging sequence past a square-cut rooflet and into technical face climbing (with a few token arete slaps) for the remaining 20m of climbing. Perhaps not too tough for the grade but with no chalk on it, and some wet holds, I'll take it!

Thanks so much Wynnie for making this happen, for letting me lead both pitches and for keeping a cheery mood despite getting soaked up to the shoulders on the first belay (with low tide and small swell).
