Historical Crag of Friuli on the slopes of mountain Glemine (abt 700m), next to Gemona del Friuli. Made of three main sectors, it encloses 40 to 50 routes that span a fairly large range of difficulties.
Three main sectors, about 50 routes of about 20m on average and great quality of the rock, with nice grip. The lower sector 'Strapiombi' is the hard one, with a number of routes from 7a to 8c/9a, mostly vertical slabs and 'crimpy' overhangs. The upper two sectors are the didactic one (seven routes of 3rd to 4th grade) and, close to it, the slab one, with about ten routes, 5th to 6th grade slabs mostly.
In 2016 there was a landslide on the upper sectors. If you consider moving to Geomona Crag you should be aware of the access policy (ask to CAI Gemona or to the locals).
Right after the 'Artegna' tunnel (via Artegna) and before the entrance to the historic centre of Gemona (where the dome is located), there is a stone wall with a small entrance. Follow the path and in a few minutes you reach the lower sector Strapiombi. Keep following the path for 5/10 minutes more (cross a green lawn next to the dome and take the hill) and you reach the upper sectors. There are parking areas out of the Artegna tunnel.
Did you know that you can create an account to record, track and share your climbing ascents? Thousands of climbers are already doing this.
