THIS CRAG IS NOW CLOSED PERMANENTLY

Following a decision by the Mauao Joint Administration Board, Ngā Poutiriao o Mauao, climbing is no longer permitted. The bolts were removed in late March, 2021.

Approach

Follow the path from the Surf Lifesaving Club on the Easter beach (Main beach), taking the first set of stairs going up the mountain.

At the split in the path, follow the left path (marked as the Difficult track).

Where to stay

Camping ground at the base of the Mount. Hotels and backpackers within walking distance. Availability very limited in summer season.
