Ascents in Oceania by Lee Som

Super fun! (For what I did climb of it hahaha) I pulled through the crux at the bottom but from second onwards, they are some bloody cool moves! It would be heady to lead going above onto the slab but not while top roping! Hahaha

The start needs some delicate balance and balls, but otherwise some fun moves! Short route.

I pulled past first draw because it is haaarrrdddd. Smearing with minimal hands and strong physicallity for one move. BUT, from second onwards it's actually fairly nice. Just exercise caution going up, try not to break the holds.

Climbed it clean setting draws, yahoo!

It was bloody hard! I think I did more pulling through moves than actual moves... hahaha

Winter is coming, climb was slimy from sea spray and dripping a little...

Great fun, the top is tricky but once you unlock it it's a pretty cool move.

Oof I'd say harder than a 17... glad I was on top rope for the top section. Would be scary placing gear.

It was a slog but good enough. Possibly my newest project. Hopefully not for long.

A little sandy at the bottom but beautiful jugs for the second half.

Got to my highest point (last draw before anchors) on the 3rd attempt. I reckon next trip, it'll go. 💪

Second time placing gear; had a take at 2nd clip and 2 falls at the next 2 draws. Second burn and I made great progress. Got to 3rd with 1 fall then finished.

There was a dead snake in the crack otw up so don't shit your pants. There was a good blue cam placement right next to it 🤣

There are actually 2 bolts at the top, and there was place for 2-3 trad placements at the bottom.

Really enjoyed this one but seriously had to trust my feet otherwise it would have been a bad time.

Grabbed the dogbone on the 3rd clip but immediately let go... I'd like to claim the pink point but I can't lie to myself... hahaha

I wonder why the route says go right of the cave when there is a really nice crack feature to the left then onto some nice juggy steps... I guess I just like going off route 😜

Really fun body positions to get into. Felt like a whole body climb with some good features, but glad I wasn't placing great at the time...

It was hard. Slab, crimps, sharp rock. Was glad it was a top roped attempt and even more glad to find out it's not a "16" like I was being told at the time... makes more sense!

I went too far right above the ledge and made a terrible rope drag away from the rap chains. The more direct route looks more fun anyways... would recommend.

It's good advice to plan well on the ground before climbing. The belay station after 2nd pitch is the textured rocky area (left of major crack), not the smooth slab of rock! (Right of major crack). That is the ledge you walk onto as you start the 3rd pitch. There are not enough features to make a trad anchor there... but geez what an absolute stunner for a climb overall. Loved all of it.

Plenty spicey for just a 13. Not exactly what I needed at the end of the day but was cool for what it is.

I enjoyed the climb! Can't say the same for the climbing partner. Second pitch was rife with hollow rock for about the first 4-5m once you get off the ledge. Absolutely fun moves though, just move swiftly and lightly... do not crank on the hollow stuff.

I started about 2m to the left of the start originally shown in the images (directly in front of marri tree). This was a much easier start, climb up 1m, then traverse back the 2m and continue en route. Beauty of a climb 😊

Great climb! Takes good gear all the way through. Although, the rock before the crux sounds a bit hollow... just be gentle using the side-pull. I didn't know there was a carrot bolt on the way up the easy scramble to anchors but there you go.

Climbed it as a multipitch, I climbed second up to the ledge then led the final stretch. It's the same finish at Sirius so good features to place gear.

I enjoyed this climb so much the first time and I got cocky, so it decided to shut me down and put me in my place... hahaha

This was very fun! [On top rope lol] Think no hands, pistol squat on a crystal... but very cool moves when you don't have to think about where your clips are!
