At the end of January, Giffon Vultures, after which the sector is named, start building their nests and laying eggs in the cracks of Portas do Almourão cliffs. For that reason, climbing at Terra dos Griffos is not allowed between January and July. Be attentive and consider going to the neighboring sector Lagoa Verde if visiting during those months (it's located low in the valley and climbing there does not affect the birds)
