Solid climbing at or near the grade until the last two pitches which follow fourth class tallus to the top. Lots of features for short pitching as needed

I didnt intend to do this route, but deteriorating conditions and a flawed judgement call ended up with one of the scariest and most out-of-control experiences of my life. I was lucky enough to live and learn (and I have learned). Objectively, this route isnt too bad a moderately easy rock route to the summit of Mount Whitney (would be a great simul-climb), with tonnes of exposure, reasonable rock and climbing, and relatively free of ice and snow. Some patches of rotten rock.

Did as 7 pitches and soloing from upper boys out lake. Damn cold with a bit of snow to freeze the feet

Awesome scenery. Can't wait to get back and do the East Face.

Beautiful big air route!

After the Pee Wee Block, stay on route by veering right. It is 5.9 if you conyinue straight up.

Excellent High Sierra route, great for beginners learning to cope with the altitude as well as the climb

12.5 hrs car to car. Awesome day. Got cold up top travelling so light.

This is a classic and busy route. I have climbed it about 7 times including winter ascents. It is not difficult, but exposed and dangerous in winter.
