One long sport route! Felt cruiser

Boy it was hot at the climb maybe 85 degrees.

Climbed to crux; dallied too long, started over and fired through. Re-climbed it twice. Worked on my pinch holds. This could be the last warm day of fall.

Actually the ramp was kinda fun; lotsa exposure. This is how we got to the chains at the top of Protein Supplement and Sunbaked.

I liked the variety of moves I had to use in this climb. The offwidth portion is enjoyable too.

Up nose to chains. Top a bit ledgey.

Aah! In the shade when I climbed it. So much cooler than Hellboy.

I first planned to climb about 6 to 10 feet to the right on the bulge of the buttress, but questioned the rock quality there. Twelfth of Never has good rock, but we didn't clean a few loose rocks on nearby ledges.

The more you stay on the arete edge, the harder it is. I't's a toprope setup and has chains now.

Mark led the first off-width pitch and I followed. We backed off the second pitch. Mark asked me if I wanted to give it a shot and I said "no way."

Trashed it (top-rope flash). I guess it's time to start trying to lead 11s.

Fantastic climb! My introduction to Diablo Canyon basalt.

We wound up using some old chains at the top that were not in the guidebook. Later we noticed the correct chains. Hot day for the end of October in a hot place. I think the sun sapped me when I tried a third route for the day and lowered off.

Excellent climb on great rock.

This climb is located in the center, or just right of center, of the west face. A top rope anchor can be set by suspending runners out over the ledges at the top; watch out for rope drag.

Clean shot up depression in fluting to top. Climbing today turned into social networking with people hiking by. We top roped a 9 year old up a nearby 5.7 (his first on real rock).

Run up harder line on top rope. It was great fun.

Start by ascending the crack alcove running up and right of the center of the west face, watch out for the rat droppings. Move left out of the crack alcove and finish up the face to ledges at the top. Use the same top rope as for Rat Race.

Seconded Gunther Worrlein. Recovered Greg Holman's gear left on chains earlier when a big rainstorm hit. End of road in gullied out.

Fritz firsted it on toprope. Then I toproped it

It's just fun crusing up this one, and you can use a smorgasboard of different moves.

Start in the left facing dihedral on the north side of the west face. Finish up on by moving right onto Ratarête. A top rope anchor can be set around the blocks to the west side of the summit.

I'ts over before you realize it.

Route was a little rough. Did some hanging on this one.

Classic hard basalt climb. Amazing. TR'd the route with a couple of takes.

Need two ropes to rap.

Thrashed around a lot at the crux. Oh well, at least four of us climbed it and only one didn't thrash. I did psych out the beta for Neil, who led it.

Very reachy. Crux is the first 20 feet.

My first attempt at leading a sport route out doors. Made it to the anchors with a couple of takes.

First climb of the year, not a good warm-up choice

This climb is located on the south end of the west face. Climb up to and over some blue spray painted graffiti. Move slightly left and up and then finish by moving right to gain the top of the detached block on the southwest side of the summit. A top rope anchor can be set around the large detached block on the southwest side of the summit.
