Ascensiones en 100' Slab Area

Fell of the crux roof of this with Mal Johnston belaying circa '79 in bare feet - ouch! Can't recall if he then lead but no need anyway: 20ish wall with a few sketchy moves and 3 crap bolts, 1.5m ceiling with what look like broken holds, then a 20m grade 8 slab with minimal pro. One for the history books.

This time deliberately jugged thru the crux.

Real nice climbing, I'm sure some of the experience is lost not being on lead. Bit of a tricky start into a fairly generous (and vegetated) flake, then some pumpy arete climbing after the traverse. Took a bit to find the route - the ringbolts at the top aren't quite as shiny as the ones on reckless.

A nice pleasant slab pitch. Good to end off the day.

TR from the chains because wetness and Sean forgetting a belay device. Made the most of it by going up the blankish dry orange streak rather than following pro - some delicate slab moves on slopers and thin edges.

P2 is the money pitch. the wandering of this climb reminds me of arapiles.

boulder problem to start followed by easier, but engaging arete/face climbing with an exciting finale (did't follow the bolt right and stayed on the arete).

Old school adventure in the company of old eminence and new courage ... how good is this game!? Despite the shrieks of someone being morally garotted between the ringbolt highway on DRP heard a mile away.

P2, no friends today, top rope solo plugging gear/rope for practice

Considering this is now my local - being less than 5 minutes drive to the pumping station gate - it was time to get re-aquainted with the route, rope-solo devices and 100m of Tendon static.

Lead this in bare feet, hand-painted pants, embroidered Whillans harness, and a couple of Chouinard hexes with Peter Martland in the 70s. Bring on the Psyncaive reunion and mass old-timer ascent!

Straight up the guts, all too easy with the security of the thin white line from above. Easy climbing but minimal pro.

Whizzed up the corner again in the slanting sun, and would have been home in 5 had I not met Macciza a.k.a. Macca on the side of the road contemplating more Dogface adventures - nice to chat.

This deserves a hell of a lot more love. If you're into bold tradding, get on this. Just keep moving, the gear is okay when you find it. Tree belay at topout.

First pitch seemed a little bit harder than 11. The crux of the first pitch is the small cornice. Both pitches were led by Geoff C. We were using half ropes. The second pitch was much easier and I took my time to practice trad gear placements. In my opinion the most scariest part is the traverse on the second pitch to the big block on the right side

Loved this route. First pitch has a small crux. 2 ringbolts help protect this short pitch. Second pitch is awesome. Protection in the corner initially with nuts and then #5 cam, then traverse right out to big block with good cracks for pro. Then traverse back to corner via balancy ledge and a single fixed hangar to inspire confidence. Up the corner with good pro all the way but a tad run out near the top over easy ground. Was grateful to use half ropes on this to avoid any rope drag

A brilliant brief outing for my daily dose of the outdoors. Always nice to do something like this as I find it helps to realign my perspective if it ever goes a bit out of whack. Full value at 11!!

Nice 10min 45m solo,a bit wet at top.

Climbed the first pitch only,large tree belay.Good after the overgrown bit.

pitch 1: lead by myself pitch 2: lead by keith

cool beginner route. pitch 1: has 3 bolts, first of is just before the crux on the overlap. bouldery move to get above it. BD 0.3 used. pitch 2: BD 0.4 -3. wanders a bit away from the corner about half way. although if you don't mind a bit of runout there is a bolt to reward the commitment to the corner. second half of the pitch has plenty of good placements.
