For outdoor climbing in Iceland it is mandatory to pay a fee for the bolt fund. The fund is used to finance the purchase of new bolts, hangers and anchors for the climbing areas. It is also used to takes care of the maintenance and development of the Tóft, outdoor tables and chamber at Hnappavellir.

You can pay the bolt fund fee at the Klifurhúsið climbing gym or by bank transfer ISK 2.500 which is valid for the rest of the year. For transfers, the account number is 111-26-100404 id: 410302-3810, please put in the explanation BOLTASJ.

Great sport climbing near Reykjavik. Nicely bolted, relatively easy access, nice views.

In Buahamrar you can find all kinds of climbing, one or more pitched sport and trad climbing, ice-, mixed- and alpine climbing.

Easy route good for warming up.

The route up on the left of Skakki Turninn and ends in the same top rope as Sóttkví.

Located only 30kms from Reykjavík, this area deserves to be popular. However, judging from the large amount of loose rock and moss on the routes (as of 2019), it appears few people go there!

Up crack on left, being wary of loose rock. 2 fixed hangers at top to belay from. Descend by walking off to climber's right. Would be pretty classic if it weren't for the moss and loose rock.

Cool little cliff close to the capital region. Lots of boulder problems establised, a few trad routes and a few sport routes. Very well bolted and mostly easy routes so its very beginner friendly.
