Ascents as sport by Scott Godwin

Really cool moves alternating between powerful and balancy, some of which I couldn't do.

Tickage. Hooray!

A couple of burns with Nate. Worked out a better sequence, but the toe hooks were upsetting the flakey hip flexor.

Climbed to fouth bolt but couldn't make the clip. Took a couple of slightly awkward falls from there and ended up with sore ribs from my harness. The climbing felt ok though, just need to work out that clip.

Nice and long. Pumpy at the top. Held the last draw to clip. Didn't like the look of big loose jug beside the bolt.

Slipped off a sidepull at the end of the crux.

Seconded to clean the gear, which I pulled on, a lot.

Awesome, varied and sustained. Seems pretty solid for the grade.

Stupid shoulder feeling pretty flakey again. Nothing hard for me today.

Had another look at this on top rope. Wondered how the injured pulley would feel on that hard crimp. Answer - not good. Oh, well another one to file away in the 'one day when I'm not injured' category.

Minced my finger in one of the locks. I'm enjoying trying some of these harder KP classics, even it is only on TR. The various injuries seem to be holding up pretty well. I think this one is still well beyond my lead ability at the moment.

Cruised the bottom and figured out a better way to do the crux. Still feels pretty desperate though. Maybe I am capable of leading this. . .

Warmups.

Harder than it looks. I think I did all the moves. Should be linkable next time if I can remember what to do.

Big fun moves between big fun jugs, but I was cactus at the end of the day. Couldn't find a good position to clip the third bolt so jumped off from there.

Interesting start

I think this is what I did. So many bolts on this wall now its hard to know what's what. Kind of contrived, but had some interesting moves on the headwall.

Better than it looks.

Went bolt to bolt without too much trouble after missing the first deadpoint move on the onsight attempt, then repeatedly missed the throw from the crimp up to the next slot on subsequent redpoint attempts until I found the sneaky kneebar. Felt a bit sandbagged again. Fun climbing though.

A couple of laps on TR. Fun climbing. Better than it looks.

Top roped after Laura's lead attempt. Managed to do it clean without really using my injured right side.

Still hard.

Really good. Worked out the sequence on top rope. Feels very doable.

Sounds like I missed a hold at the crux. Awesome climbing.

Came within a poofteenth of the onsight, but pumped out and greased off the very last hold before the anchor. Climbing vertical cracks and aretes in the gorge is not good training for this kind of stuff.

Felt heaps easier than last time. Not sure if I climbed the first few moves or if I was on pterodactyl direct. Who cares. It was fun. Still think it looks like a super ballsy lead.

Juggy and fun.

Committing, balancy moves at the crux on terrible feet with a risk (real or imagined?) of smashing your balls and/or face on the edge of the roof if you blow it.. Holds were all a bit dirty/mossy. Probably doesn't get any traffic with the annoying access. Might come back with a brush and clean it up and go for the lead.

That crux is still tough.

Another lap with Mike. Finally found a better way to clip the anchor.

The crag says I'd been on this before, but I think I had it confused with the one to the right. Really good climbing. Blew the tricky footwork at the crux and fell, then clean to the top. Too pumped to make much headway on the second go.
