The first pitch was sustained for the grade, absolutely terrific climb. Wish I remembered my crack gloves, left a trail of blood behind. Second pitch was deffo above my ability, that committing and awkward move would have terrified me on lead.

Felt like the first pitch was the money pitch. 3rd only really had a short section that was good before the average stuff at the top.

Linked 1/2, 3/4 and then a bit of a walk off at the top choss. Took a double rack of cams but had plenty of everything left over.

Was good for the grade but not sure it deserves an ultra classic. Flake crack and Interstate are way better.

The team arrived at fuck knows o'clock and i headed up to the worlds least inspiring looking tat to belay the double pitch for steve, who then pointed out the dbb off to the left. Steve went on windbreak for the money pitch. Said it was tough for 17.. i reasoned with him that this route was fa'd by the guy who made the grades and therefore must be entirely accurate. Turns out 'grade inflation': a phenomenon by which climbers just arent as fkn hard these days, explains the fact that the overhung corner sequence felt closer to 19. The misunderstanding of the day took place on this pitch where I was hacking at a cam mid crux that i thought steve overcammed, couldnt get it, shouted down to chris and ciaran to have a go. Both of them dedicated some solid time and ciaran eventually freed it with a fight that cost him much hand skin. He pulled it triumphantly from his harness at the end of the route and held it out to steve. Steve didnt recognise it. Turns out some other party got it stuck. Now ciaran owns 1 beat up cam that he can use as a nut sometime! Steve and I spent about an hour and 15 sitting in the overhung scoop belay cave up top just having yarns about anything that came to mind.. what a unique and incredible geological feature with full valley view and shade! Barramundi and beer back at the house after, good shout there

Finally got back to do the final pitch clean. Still a little strenous to be honest. But it went down without too much fuss. The first two pitches remain some of the best introductory jam climbing in the mountains, with good jams surrounded by good feet and some jugs. A great place to learn, and the top pitch is a great test at the grade.

Happy to have my revenge! Yet there was such magic in the experience. The fading sun made the rock delightfully warm, I took my time, enjoyed the crux, and couldn’t believe I was watching sunset from the monstrous pod 3/4 the way up (the original intention was to do firebug but the relaxed atmosphere begged for something smaller). Belaying my second was a joy in the twilight as bats came out of their roosts, frogs croaked and owls began to hoot. We stayed at the ledge for an eternity and almost bivvied right there and then with a 1/4 packet of bhuja. But knowing our place we rapped from the first pitch with the large moon now lighting the way, the torches on our heads fairly useless... a reminder these places are so much more than their climbs

tempted to call it my first 21 trad onsight but unfortunately it's not 21. tad harder than Eternity so I'd say 19. Still super cool and fun! Middle diagonal crack is awesome jamming testpiece

don't be discouraged by some of the comments below. It is a pretty good and very safe climb with reasonable rock quality and good gear. It's best to belay on the ledge above the bird poo as the description suggest - plenty of gear options. Grade wise the crux moves are consistent with other Bluyes trad 17s with rest of the climb being easier, just don't approach it with a 'sport grade 17 leader' mindset. Watch rope drag if combining last two pitches.

Awesome experience with a bit of everything. ‘Why walk when you can climb out?’ A late decision to send led to cold fingers while wicked winds threatened to throw us off. The name is accurate! But we persevered, dropped a bolt plate (the carrots stick out unecessarily) and made it to the giant cave for a beautiful sunset! Leaving P3 at twilight heightened the already exciting exit out of the cave, but was worth it, not least because we failed to bring head torches (typical). Next time will bring less bags and less gear - just need a few small cams for P1, a small wire and maybe a #3 for P2

I finally sacked up and led the second pitch of this route after seconding it a few years ago and having led the first pitch a few times. I found getting from the belay to my first piece utterly terrifying, which probably had a lot to do with being a short-ass. If you are 5'2," soloing up to the first piece of gear is nails in the sun. Staying in the vegetated crack out left and placing a 5, not that I had that, in the top of it with a 120 sling would have been the go. I guess I will know for next time...

Bit of a slow lead, I might be stronger but the crux gear hasn't got any thicker than last year. Thought I'd given myself more drag than other times so stopped after P3, it's a really cool cave to belay in, shame P4 is so short that it seems a bit pointless.

1st pitch: felt easy. slightly pumpy at the beginning. 2nd pitch: Felt harder. A bit reachy. Used more cams and totems at the start. Traverse a bit scary. 3rd pitch: a bit scary to start but great feet n and hands all the way up. Money pitch for exposure.

Good belay stations. Use the carrots above 2nd pitch as top belay to avoid drag. It’s on the over hang to the left.
