Interesting climb with some crack jamming and face climbing. The first pitch felt considerably harder than the third yet they are the same grade? If you can't jam at all it might not be nice. Face right at the top of the first pitch to get onto the belay ledge. I nearly missed this and was about to pull up over the loose blocks. Second pitch was lovely. Watch for rope drag on the third pitch.

A real adventure, some pitches easy, some terrifying. Look forward to doing it again. Would not do chimney as slippery and mossy but climb big arete on Left. Also overhang on 3rd pitch was awkward, would go right. Even Pete was scared.

First half is fun climbing up a nice crack. Gear is a tad dicky. Exciting pulling through roof, but then its all over too quickly.

Beautiful moves on stunning rock. ‘Pencil thin crack’ had me thinking I was about to be letting out some huge PASSSSATS but was pleasantly surprised to just find thought provoking climbing broken up by the biggest jugs of all time. Amazing and should probably be a classic!

A great crack that should see more repeats. Don’t worry about the bees, they left us alone. Plugged a few C3’s in the narrow crack for the move then easy jugging to the top

Yay!!! Finally I have done this mega classic So psyched! Got the picture, the video and everything too Arapiles actually makes trad fun... so much better than the wet dingy hole I come from Placed one bolt then ran it out to the roof and placed a couple of cams which gave me sooooo much rope drag did the roof twice!!!

Last lead of my Gramps-Arapiles trip. Iconic, but less impressive than you might think. The crux is probably at the start getting established properly on the face (past a few moves). The roof is quite easy, though I still found it intimidating. The headwall is a doddle. Take a single rack of cams and wires (for belay at the bottom as well).

Did this a few years ago, seconded paul today. Sadly this route is more intimidating then it is hard. A couple of pulls and its over, true to the old saying "Its only gym 19 mate" Campused the roof for extra fun.

Stunning! Somehow I got more pumped on the moves to the start of the roof than the actual roof. Skipped the gear at the roof lip and got a little scared but pulled through.

Exposure level = Mega Classic. Photoescue level = Mega Classic. Climb = Yeah; it's alright. A constant ledge roof didn't appeal to me much. The super hot weather and roasting sun did not help one bit.

Good rock, but humidity and flies and inability to reach between horizontals led to a slight mcdougalling at the start. Felt really slippery.

It had to be done. A brilliant conclusion to the ten pitches of awesomeness rest day at Araps and delightful to tick off a climb that was one of the first i ever saw pictures of. Probably a few grades easier that the suggested 21 to tell the truth but that does not detract from the allure of this piece of rock. Every somewhat competent trad climber should definitely suck it up and jump on this!

Epic lead with the exposure. Well worth the 3 star. Definatly use heel hooks on the roof to reduce getting whipped off or pumped out befor you go for the hanging photo opp. I didn’t bother clipping the old piton either. Seemed to create more rope drag as I had a cam in befor it so I unclipped it. Just start banging cams in the rail and keep moving. Will definatly revisit this one

Amazeballs. We had a great party for this one. Met Will, Jose and Winnie that morning and teamed up to tackle the route together and take some glory shots! Short and all over pretty quickly but totally lived up to the hype! A bit of drizzle added to the atmosphere and made the crux a little more interesting.

The big one! Jen's Roof and Pilot Error were good prep. Cam the right toe-heel in the big flake and pump through the roof to easy climbing. Stoked with this one.

Another barber route in the bag, seems weird he picked this line as opposed to the mega line under the roof. But good none the less... But there must be a reason theres no chalk on this line.??.?.?.

Pumped out a little on the first face off belay ledge, bit of a runout. Amazing solid roof to easy mantle and top out. Rapp anchors to lower down to photo ledge.

Absolutely FUCKING AWESOME. A climb which will leave a grin from ear to ear after pulling through the utterly unreal and powerful moves. A karate kick from a high left heel to a high right heel must definitely be the beta. If you only have time for one climb in the area skip Kachoong and get on this!
