Good day out to repeat this one. Very windy day. Got a light spattering of rain, nothing bail worthy. Finished up atop the caves route chimney, and hiked the rest of the way to the summit.

Came down the tourist route, but this was more effort than it was worth. Sticking to the descending via Caves route in future.

It's pretty much a sports climb. Fully bolted all the way up, except the first few metres of P1. Hanger with carabiner is available at the 30m mark of P3 if a 70m rope is what you have.

Just as spicy as I remember it being, made trickier by the single cloud in the sky deciding to darken the already hard-to-read Tibro rock for the duration of this pitch.

Thoroughly enjoyed the part where a three-finger crimp in the crux section decided it no longer wanted to remain attached to the wall, and instead turn into a mono. Somehow managed to hold on, probably because I knew I'd already skipped a couple of bolts by this stage in the name of rope-drag management and a fall would've been disasterous.

8 16 30 Sport lead by Josh Peters

Top belaying on the final pitch was utterly serene. Being completely alone on a moonlit cliff and watching lightning dance in a distant storm is something I won't soon forget.

Full moon adventure. Started climbing at about 9pm, graced by clear skies & a perfectly positioned full moon to make headtorches not necessary for this incredible experience.

Decided we'd try link pitches & send the whole route in only 3 pitches. Would not recommend. Even extending every draw and skipping a bunch, drag was still gnarly.

Topped out just before midnight & rapped down caves route. Bit of bush bashing and cane-toad-trodding had us back at the carpark at 1:30am for a weary drive home.

Pack with 2nd 60m (to allow rap retreat) was something of a hinderance. Loose rock was most notable on pitch 4, but was here and there on most pitches. Other than FHs, used only x2 slings on pitch 3. Long or alpine draws suggested for pitch 5. Descent via Caves Route (x5 rappels). For 1st rappel x2 60m used with EDK as uncertain about length of descent, however now know one 60m rope is (just) sufficient. Also stuck rope required ascent and retrieval on completion of this 1st rappel (at CR chimney). Approx 5 hours to ascend. Approx 2.5 hours to descend, which includes some stooging around in cave 5 and lost time with stuck rope.

Perfect day out, car to car in 5hrs which meant Will didn't have to skip his prior commitment of kayaking in the brown snake with Riverlife. Linked pitches 2/3, 4/5, 6/7. Pitches 4/5 needed about 22 draws which was unfortunate given we had a total of 18. Awesome climbing the whole way but needed a lot of slings to reduce drag when linking pitches. Didn't love the unroped scramble up from the top of pitch 8 to caves but otherwise a solid day out.

Such a fun day out with Grace. My crux was the bolt spacing on the 16 slab on the 8th pitch, a bit heady making delicate moves knowing the fall would be gross.

I should have skipped some bolts on the 18 that I led as the rope drag was pretty bad and there was an excess of bolts for once on Tibro ha!

The 7th pitch was clearly the crux of the whole climb. Looking forward to climbing it again one day and leading the other pitches!

Very fun climb, the traverses are great. Engaging enough to be interesting but nothing too hard to worry about. It's mostly a sport climb with occasional gear on p1-p2. A single rack is more than enough, or even just a set of nuts and a few small cams up to #2 would do.

Climb 27 of 50. A really great climb! Felt more like an 18 than a 20. Not sure which was the crux pitch, but Kate and I both felt that pitch 2 was the crux. The only disappointing aspect of this route is that we literally only placed 1 cam (pitch 1 start), and 1 nut (pitch 3). I missed the trad placement on pitch 2, but Kate said there was a nut placement there. It seems silly to cart an entire rack up for 2 or 3 placements. In my personal opinion, if this route had two or 3 more bolts, it would be a really popular fully bolted sport route. Alas, I think people are put off by the "Mixed Trad" status, and the assigned grade of 20, and therefore this route doesn't see the traffic it deserves. I feel it's a grade 18, or 19 at most. Anyway, perhaps the first ascentionists would be amenable to a retro-bolt ;-) Ha ha. Definitely worth doing this climb again.

Harder than I remember (did this back in 2016 or 2017), but it was graded a 21 back then. Interesting how perspective affects the perceived difficulty level. It was a walk in the park for a grade 21, so I remembered it as being 'easy'. 19 does feel about right though.

8 16 30m Sport lead by Grace Daff

Definitely run out compared to some of the other pitches. Would be nice to take some of the bolts from P4 & P5 and chuck them up here! Not particularly hard climbing, but a big fall on slabby rock is a nasty thought.

Proper good quality climbing! Linking pitch 4 and 5 was definitely the way to go - not a lot of rope drag with a few runners. The two best pitches on the route were a treat, back to back.

We finished by scrambling directly up from pitch 8 anchors and belaying off some trees. Wouldn't recommend doing this (I didn't read the guide properly). Potentially could have skipped pitch 8 by scrambling left into cave 5? I would have preferred this to other options

Jules' first multi and I think she'd managed to do most of her unnecessary panicking in the car on the ride up. Me realising I'd left my belay device at home probably added to a little necessary panic. Running into josh and wen and the base for an equally late start meant a gleeful party of four were greeted by a blood moon rising as we topped out for afternoon snacks. The major downside to the moon rising was the sun setting, and having rappel in the dark because some idiot said "don't bring your headtorch, no way we're here till dark"

Slowly meandered our way to the base and raced home to make Rachel's 30th just before it started! A miraculous effort only made possible by the heroic driving of our uber, and us pretending the part kicked off at 11pm...

Pleasant suprise bumping into Marty & Jules at the start of the climb, which proved useful as Marty could retrieve Wen's single glasses lense that popped out midway through the climb, resulting in Wen doing his best pirate impression for the remainder of the day

Leading both of the 19 pitches was daunting but fun, with pitch 7 being considerably harder than the rest of the pitches

A beautiful blood moon provided us some light as we got a little lost descending in darkness until ~8pm

Typical nondescript Tibro access pitch. Bolts where you need them, and a nice wire near the top.

A 30m percussion instrument.

Lots of dummy, suspicious rock at either end of this pitch.

4 16 45m Trad lead by Robert Hartley

The route this pitch follows wasn't immediately obvious to me. Generally up and left from the belay, for future reference.

A really nice pitch of climbing. Bolts are well spaced, but wire placements are easily found.

5 13 20m Second lead by Alex

A fun little traverse. Lots of projectiles sitting in the gully.

6 20 30m Trad lead by Robert Hartley

Quite a crazy looking pitch of climbing! Certainly longer than photograph's I'd seen made it appear.

Great mix of jamming, stemming, and weird arm bars while you shake out your claves.

The crack didn't feel like a 20 to me, perhaps closer to 18/19. I felt the hardest one or two moves were exiting the crack at the top as you step out onto the face.

Rock quality within the crack was generally decent. Several portable holds on the faces either side, however.

Medium - large wires and hexes were my primary protection. Plus small - medium cams.

MVP:
#2 hex at the top of the crack!
7 16 32m Trad lead by Robert Hartley

A nice pitch of climbing with solid rock.

Hangers are decently spaced but where you need them. Didn't see any placements on this pitch, but didn't feel the need for any gear.

Went past the actual anchor for this pitch and belayed from the top of the second last pitch of Ross Miller Route (up and left). This made exiting via Blabbermouth easier.

A great day out with Alex! Hopefully we'll get a few more in before he racks off to Canada.

Overall a fun, well protected route with a great crux pitch and smatterings of questionable rock throughout.

Started up pitch 1 around 9am, topped out around 1pm. Didn't bother with the last pitch. Descent via Blabbermouth.

Gear

Wires & hexes (DMM 1-3)

Cams: 00-4 (DMM). Doubles 0-3 if you want, and I reckon you could fit a 5 in there too.

P6 was the real standout, very nice crack with plenty of gear placement. A single rack is probably sufficient, having 2 cams each in the smaller sizes would make life very comfortable. The remaining pitches are alright, sparsely bolted but the bolts are there when you need them. We couldn't find how to get to SB/Blabbermouth so had to rap off Caves route instead. This took much longer than rapping off those routes and we had to walk back to Candy Mountain to grab stuff we left at the base.

One to test the endurance of the leader! Picking the way through some questionable holds, and the occasional one that crumbles keeps the heart racing. Couldn't trust a hold around half way and took the fall. Lowered back to the anchor to collect the radio and went back up, making it even longer! Has some great moves and technical sequences, worth getting on. Will go back for the full send later in the year.

We were very brave to do this in mid summer as a party of 3 but it worked out fine and was a lot of fun. Started at 7am via first 2 pitches of Blabbermouth and got back to ground around 1pm. The crux pitch is quite committing but there are enough good holds to work with, great lead by Scott! Start of p2 is fairly stiff for the first 2 bolts. Linked p2 and p3, a 60m rope is just enough, with 2m of rope to spare. A single rack for the first 2 pitches of Blabbermouth is sufficient, I placed only one cam on p3
