	18	★★★ Simpleton - with Elaine Chiu, Mick, Steven vdb 1 Free solo Not as many jugs as I was hoping for on a solo pitch 2 Trad lead by Josh Peters The money pitch. Learned a valuable lesson in reading the damned route instructions before leading a trad multi. Got myself into a super awkward position when transitioning between the two crack systems - right foot on a tiny sloper, left foot on nothing, wielding akimbo two finger crimps. 2 meters above and to the right of a marginal placement, 6 meters above the one below that. Slab, so no gear to place as the fear gradually builds into full blown panic. Queue boning down on the worst position I’ve probably ever held, pouncing to what I only hoped was a jug, and placing a desperate shitty single-lobe-engaged cam. great line, but surprisingly little actual crack. The main pitch was a good lead by Gem, quite insecure. I was all psyched for an intense and wild traverse on the second, but found nothing really harder than 15, bit of a let down.

Bolts are hard to see, not much gear before the first bolt. Starts further R than you would think going up the more blank looking part of the face. Guide has it a bit too far L. First carrot about 10m up.

My first trad climb! Made the mistake of body jamming the crack on the second pitch and so I had to take a sit because I missed a few good holds just right of the crack. We were interrupted by a rescue helicopter which hovered just 15-20m over me during the second pitch. One of the most interesting points of the climb. Throughly enjoyed belaying from the second belay point. The abseil in the end was a treat!

A Grand day out, Gromit. Did all 3 pitches. Second pitch great crack climbing. Finished on the traverse pitch, wild. Tops at anchor. 60m abseil then I abbed off a small tree straight down to the packs.

Classic and varied. Best not to fall in one section on first pitch. Second pitch was fantastic, felt unlikely and took 2 attempts to figure out crux beta. 3rd pitch a cool roof in great position. Thoroughly recommended.

Stoked to get this one done! Such varied climbing, you could almost pick a single style (crack/layback/face/bridging) and do that the entire way. Gear is fantastic. Traverse on pitch 3 was a little underwhelming... just 2 moves and then jugs, more like a hard 16/easy 17 for that pitch.

P1 was good, P2 was super tricky and a solid lead by Dan, very dubious at 20! There are some nice wires to protect the start of the P2 crux, but you have to do the delicate/balance move to gain the good hold, a tad scary. The rest of P2 is ok, we retreated over left and belayed as for P2 of Simpleton. The last vertical shallow crack looked ok, but we were not going to commit to that standup move. Last pitch of Simpleton.

Brilliant climb, led all pitches. Since the final traverse starts by traversing downwards and the anchor is right above the traverse, I decided to not place any gear from before the traverse till the anchor This made it way safer for the 2nd!

I got to lead the awesome second pitch which had some exciting moves for the grade above gear. Great route in the style and an awesome rest day adventure.

Great climbing with a couple of delicate cruxes that I dogged, though maybe not carrying a double rack would have helped . 4s are definitely not necessary!

Brilliant climbing. Kinda like an easier Blimp I thought. The lichen has definitely grown back, though I made a fair effort at cleaning it off to find some good feet.
