Turns out I had no beans left. Did the first crux okay and then felt too pumped to clip the first long sling and had sit.

Decided to continue to try top and took a good fall getting into the first rest and then took another rest before doing the slab into the roof.

At least managed the roof sequence to the top.

Never got the tick on this and now I remember why. Felt like a classic Summit over-chalked slopey mess of a route. Pumped out before going over the top. Spent too long down low searching for something good.

Another burn and marginal progress?

Still couldnt get through the first crux clean from the ground but again did it first try after a hang.

Made better progress through the next sequence matching the good U shaped undercling to help get my moves in the right order. Dropped moving up into the pinch. Clean to the top again after that.

(Two hangs - time to cut down how long I rest on them and or try take one hang out..... or both?)

27 Camel Filter - with Luca Wilkening, Nick Zemkus, Shiran Sitrin, Ben Sport 22m, 8 Classic

Got to the TR chains and rested well before trying the first crux. Got the RH but couldnt get my feet up.

Pulled back on after a good hang and got the move first try and even made some progress getting the right kneebar and a hand sequence to move into next crux before the hand jam.

Took another hang and then blasted to the top. The jam sequence goes quite well now but I suspect when doing this clean it will feel a lot more pumpy.

Holy shit this felt hard. So glad Justin led this and I had the opportunity to second, but I can't imagine getting good enough to lead it. Did all moves clean, but needed a rest after the traverse and before the techy crux on the slab. Pretty runout and dangerous if you're not super solid. There are some serious no fall sections on this.

Climbed it properly in the dark. A loose block came off near a big pinch after the stem. A jug at the top of graffiti wall also came off along with tonnes of little chips along the way.

Definitely a little harder today in the dark and with so many holds coming off.

This is sensational. I can imagine trying to lead it in the future, but another few attempts on TR would be needed before I was game enough to try it! Probably a PP after that before considering a RP... serious stuff. Was nice to use a finger lock at some point there (although only possible after cleaning Justin's cam from the crack, so probably can't use that in the lead, haha)

Clean to the top of Trade Route and also the next bolt. So pumped.

Dropped the big move up maybe once or twice. Made the jam sequence much quicker but also did drop the move to the undercling once. Also need to figure out how I’m going to link the two cruxes as bumping along the underclings feels so hard

Played around with a kneebar on Trade Route on the way up. It’s decent for a rest but not sure it works for me to do the crux of that.

Pushed on and up into the first crux of camel. Went up from the wrong undercling. Got the move first try after that.

I also managed to get a better kneebar out right before going into the sequence into the hand jam. Was able to get the hand jam easy enough today but moving up to the pinch I kept dropping. Just need to hand jam 100% harder than what I was jamming.

My proudest hang dog to date. Stoked to get to the top of this!!

Was pretty cooked after my last burn though and had to rest on the Trade Route part too.

Managed the first cruxy move of Camel into my RH gaston on my 2nd attempt this burn. Felt on my limit.

Also managed the next cruxy bit with the marginal kneebar in a few goes. Noticed that swapping my hand in the UC will be really hard when trying to link these sections too.

Once I got the large undercling after the jam the climbing backed off enough and I even found a bit of a no hands rest. Little did I know the chains were basically right there.

Time to start working and dialing it in. Feels like it'll be a crazy hard one to link.

2nd burn to see how far I could get and how much beta I had locked in. Turns out mostly all of it was locked in. Only 1 sit.

Felt so fun to blast through the RH Gaston crux and cruise to the rest. Really enjoyable climbing and pushed on and up to the main roof. Created an marginal kneebar in the roof to try and adjust the LH on the point to get a better kneebar but it was a real struggle. Made the LH crossover and then went LF first to the next hold when it was meant to be a RF. Couldn’t reverse or cut feet to swap as I was pumped. Had to hang here.

This route feels so awesome! Can’t wait to get back on it!!

25 North Terrace Stroll - with Trang, Nick Zemkus Sport 20m Classic
Ross Paynter
First try on this. Felt very hard. Easy climbing up to first bolt and then a very cruxy move out right to a RH Gaston. Took me a while to get this after trying it multiple times.

Once past this it was fun climbing through to the first rest. The next sequence up to the roof UC looked trickier than it was for me. Once in the roof though it does feel a little on again.

Getting the body bar rest first time around felt awful. Was very active for me, felt cramped and like I was going to slip out. Almost felt better to do an inverted kneebar off the same holds and then even going above and kneebar while standing on the body bar hold instead.

Was good climbing to the top.

Tried to see how far I could go. Managed to get to the second bolt on the head wall before joining ANZAC. Didn’t hit the LH side pull as a side pull and was pulling down on the hold. It’s really not great in that direction. Fell bumping the into it proper. Felt really close on this burn. Really fun climbing!

24 Easy Space to Rent - with Trang Sport 6 Very Good

Bolt to bolting as first time on. Felt pretty good. Bit of a weird start leads to nicer climbing. Felt like a long way to the draw below the roof but the holds were really good. A crimp then a precise LH side pull on the head wall before joining ANZAC. Quite decent! Will be a pump manager for me I reckon.

Very messy first burn today. Forgot my beta after the first good knee bar and at the final roof. Was sloppy. Did manage to find a really nice pinch at the top to help gain the headwall.

Also potentially spotted the culprit rock/blade for cutting ropes. In the final roof, there is a bolt above and below. The lower bolt has a long downward facing blade like feature slightly up and right (I use it as a footer in a stem at some point). On this blade is a hand size section really close to the bolt where the rope can run underneath. If a climber were to fall (at any point with the next draw clipped) while the rope was running underneath, the tension put on the rope can cause it aggressively rub over this bladed edge. I am certain that this explains what happened to the rope on my previous outing. Could potentially extend the last two draws before the headwall if worried about this or be very mindful and ensure the rope doesnt get caught underneath while climbing past it.

Came up to the same move in better shape, more rested and relaxed. It felt like it would go for a moment before my arms turned to jelly. Damn, next time!

On lower, I noticed my rope had sustained a pretty large tear in the sheath. Talking to my friends, it appears like it had to have happened on this burn however it just seems so strange to have happened on my rather small fall from the 2nd to last bolt. Rope must have been running funky through one of the roofs when it went into tension.

21 Pull Apart Top rope 19m Good
John Baxter
Why is the route description full of beta?? I'm glad I climbed it before reading.

The description is trash and the rock LOOKS chossy, but it's actually pretty good, and quite a good route. Mostly decent holds but pumpy all the same, and a few nice moves.
