Ascents in Kalymnos by peta barrett

Unfortunately onto my second lot of painkillers by this stage so a possible lead fall was out of the question. However.. what a fantastic route. A Pretty still and spoogy day but it didn’t affect this Climb too badly. Had to wait and practice knee bars in the groove for ages while someone was above on Eros, which is a pity for this climb. I didn’t mind the top section though. I liked the two varying styles of jug hauling through to delicate balancy moves at the top.

The book gave it 3 stars. I feel like I wasted my time though.

Nope. Back is #%*#ed. No more steep for me. Pity, as looking back on the video of when I popped my knee on it, I had it wired.

Damn! Didn’t realize we’d already done this one! Alzheimer’s onsight??? 11 bolts. Pretty run out for Kaly but this time I actually enjoyed it. Had anticipated doing the 7a+ but it was such a spoogy soapy day, and it looked even more run out so decided on this instead. Good to know my climbing has improved in 7 years... memory is going however ...

just cant seem to nail the 3rd 7 in a day. plus, it was coming into the sun and it had to be cleaned. harder than i remembered.

lets just say i did my bit to ensure all the bad holds broke off.... a lot of them.....in fact, everything i touched haha

oops, probably should have lead it... at least i didnt break off anything else. nice sequence. although, my back was so bad i went back on the drugs.... so probably a wise decision.

definitely keeps you on your toes! especially exciting with a group of Italians yelling in my ear...

aaah what? i really missed something here.one really blank section where it was either too wet for friction or i just couldnt reach?? or i just didnt read it well at all! not as nice as the other 2 7as. first day of not one day on and one day off. my back is definitely feeling it...

regular warmup

still working on my fitness but definitely seeing improvements. back is still ok. x3

decided to warm up on this. might be a bit tougher as a warm up.... still good though.

easy to the crimp. fall a lot at the crimp.. easy to the anchor. managed to actually hold the crimp once but not sure how much body weight was actually taken off....a lot?? feeling like i might be getting my strength back in my right hand though. wishful thinking?? x 3 shots. all felt good

after two years of back problems, i really doubted my abilities. i really shouldnt have. this was nicer than the warm up. felt easy.

thought i would alternate my climbing with a lap of this and a lap of katranemia.

pretty slimy day and the start was almost impossible to do. so wet! however, apart from the crux move, the rest went quite easily. if only the crux wasnt a right hand crimp. pinched nerve damage.... 3 shots

second shot realised how really really unfit i really am...for now..
