Ascents in Bayerischer Wald having Beta

My final of the four routes at Bayerischer’s right side. All four lines are short and grim, this one no exception.

Pumpy, puzzling, and powerful! A kneepad helped enormously.

Hard to read, took us far longer to solve and send than expected!

What a character, this line smashed us! Fun day!

Very interesting middle section, exiting from a roof, on a face between two tufas

Big, comfortable holds the entire way. Watch the tree carefully.

This had me trying hard!

Interesting! I needed to take to find proper befa for short ppl. I did a knee-bar which made the crux much easier.

Excellent, just needs traffic for it to clean up a bit. Possibly quite soft.

lots of microbeta helped with the send, was a desperate clip for the anchor. belayer should watch out for mega choss from the top third of the route

Very fun crux, but a bit dirty. Will be great after more traffic.

Cool line!! But cbf trying hard to go over roof. Like a long bolted boulder problem.

Got fully lubed.

really, really fun climb.

Much easier once you work out the holds. My beta required serious span but there are likely alternatives.

My favourite 7a in Thahkek, unexpectedly! Very powerful and also technical. Had a super good flash try and almost pumped up 2nd go.

2nd Go

Soft for the grade, short but pretty cool route.

Short bouldery and hard crux moves.

Nearly didn’t Climb today but felt so much better after a long warm up that i thought I’d give it a go. First shot got clean to the last hard move. Realised my beta was actually never going to work at that point and found a work around. Sent quite easily second shot.... finally...

Fingertips gone from the morning and sweating into my eyes. Can barely breathe in this humidity. It’s not gonna go in these conditions but it’s all training right?

So brutal. Taped up the fingers this time and worked out some sneaky beta. Hardest 7b I’ve ever done haha. (2)

Still a dog but worked out all the moves and clips. Surprisingly it’s the clipping that makes it harder! First shot to get the draws on. Made a few errors (like more draws on either side, had to down Climb and swap draws over). Second shot worked out better beta and linked most of it together. Skin soreness was the major inhibiting factor. Plus tired after the first days project. I’ll pre tape next time...

Pumpy!! Glad the draws were on had intended to go back to open all hours but it was in full sun. Slightly unexpected, so finished off this crag instead.

Brutal. There was blood. Not great for a warm up but pretty easy 2nd shot.

Hard but good. Nicer than the bloodfest to the left...

One move that was a bit too reachy and I couldn't be assed to try again.
