Ascents in Pha Tam Kam having Beta

First ascent on the crag bby. High quality climbing, high quality choss, high quality suffering, with a bit of spice. if you got a rack, it'd be rude not to.

First few moves are the killer! Worked it all out on the first shot. Past the start it's all good. (I do like a low crux haha)

Sun came over around 1.10pm. Waited a bit and tried again. Could not do the move off the ground. The light changing hid whatever footer I used first time. Clean to top after that though. Note to self, chalk up footers used first try so you can see them in the arvo!

Really good. Alas, had to climb in the sun. But, it did mean I could see the start holds which was my issue last time. Got the start 3 times just as the sun hit then had to clean it. Unfortunately looking into the sun means you can't see anything! But hopefully now I can do the start, the rest will go.

When you're in a group of 3, warm up at 8am and then your second climb is at midday... you know it's not going to go well. Super fingery start. Not sure if I liked it as apart the the approaching sun, it was super crimpy on cold fingers. Maybe another day?

First shot. Couldn't clip draw at traverse to skipped it.

First shot to get the draws on. 2 hours helping rescue someone out of the canyon (clip every draw people!!). By then it was in the sun on a 39 degree day so TR to clean it. Unfortunately (or fortunately) got it clean. I'll come back.

Retro Flash last year I tried it but puked half way up. Felt hard but was super fun

Amazing!!! Imo - best 6c in Thahkek!! There are real fossils on this rock and u use them as holds!!! Omg how cool. Great face crux and then overhang for dessert. Went with 5 qds too little and downclimbed several times...

2 tries when i arrived (fell at the end on the 2nd try....) and two more 20 days later. Could have been one... 3rd try was 3 moves in. Perfect crimpy sequence to maybe 6c/6c+ for another 30 meters. Ran out of 70m rope! All climbs in Cayon are amazing

Almost on sight. Had some info from the Brits. First time I used a fossil as a hold. Very good!

Found boulder hard, ended up dogging to save skin/energy. Top was very cool.

4th go! Felt good on the send.

That middle section caught me off guard, and was struggling to find good crimps to stay on. Probs didn't help that I parked out to the right before the crux, but sometimes safety is more important than the send. Cool features, but just need to find better feet to make it a clean send. Pretty big committing moves up the top as well, be sure to take plenty of rests on the way up to get it clean next time

Another shite day. Blew the onsight, had a melt, lowered down and repeated the crux like 3 times while fuming. Did the full crux sequence from the ground then freaked out at when the rope went round my leg and grabbed the draw, had a helmet on, should of just fell on my head. Think I’m done climbing for this trip, it’s not fun anymore.

Really fun climb blew off the sharp side pull lost it at the slippery feet then flew up the rest need to work the crux then go for the send

Great, long, technical line.

Manufactured holds through the bottom boulder problem hurt the route’s quality, for me. I skipped the traverse quickdraw on redpoint, and whipped safely there on one attempt. I had trouble getting this one done, maybe due to inefficient beta or the style; it took significantly more work than Ghosts ‘n Goblins beside it.

Another epic line. Fossilised shells you can use for handholds! So so good.

Holy heck, what a route. Crimpy and techy bottom sequence and then superb juggy pockets for 15m to finish. Another favourite of the grade!

Totally onsightable. Couldn’t switch to slab mode quick enough.
