Night climb adventure with headlamps! Epic adventurous climb in an amazing position. P1 - Onsight, P2 - Dog (fell off at 40m when I ended up off route due to dogedly trying to climb the face, instead of going to the arete as per the topo, and couldn't reverse the moves... AFTER all the hard climbing was over!); P3 - Second Clean. I can verify the route is 60m long, but use a 70m rope. P1 is a ball-curdler. Had a knot-in-the-rope epic on the raps which resulted in me prussiking 20m. BRILLIANT!

Awesome position. During wrapping down, my a-bit-too-far-away prussicks was too tight to untight, had a little hiccup to solve the issue. Got down to the ledge safely (Thank Goodness), and the journey had just begun. All of the routes are awesome. Mega, mega classic.

Traverse was pretty wild at the start! Got through that then P2, the first 30m was relentless. Turns out my endurance is shit house. There's more rests and the moves ease off in the top half. In saying all this, the climbing is fantastic in an unbelievable position. Let’s not forget the mantel at the end! Fark! P3, just a means to an end.

What an incredible climb, the rap in alone was amazing and exposed. Went to belay B, tricky to rap to here. Climb was in the shade from like 10am, so got cold at belays. The climb itself was great, lots of jugs, ledges and fun movement. Got very pumped over gripping holds and had rests on the rope a few times. It would be good to go back and do it again, very memorable climbing and location. Ended up using 28 draws from belay B.

Extremely epic. Would highly recommend clipping draws on the abseil above you as you go down so that you don’t end up hanging in space... the person coming down second can simply remove them on the way down, and you can pull them into the anchors to rethread. I got stuck hanging and that sucked but managed to whip the tail of the rope around a rock and pull myself back into the rock. Stiff move just after the first belay. Second pitch felt heroically long. Heaps fun in the end!

One of the best 23s around. Probably a good idea to take a couple of medium size cams for a belay after about 30 metres on pitch 2 due to rope drag and you may not have a 70m length rope.

Seconding the traverse pitch was seriously "engaging". I was literally hanging on for dear life, visualizing a horrendous swinging fall each time I unclipped a draw and was then faced with another lot of slippery, slopey awkward holds. I led P2 and I agree that it's really great quality climbing. I won't bore you with my list of excuses, but I found it hard and scary. I got mega pumped and had to rest a few times. We watched a thunderstorm drop a torrent of rain between us and Mt Solitary while we climbed and I prayed that we wouldn't get a similar soaking before we got to the top. I'm keen to go back and try to master this route.

Some days you are the sender, and some days you are the pack mule. P2 was not a great seconding experience when close to my limit and such a long pitch. Got probably irrationally worried about a ledge the rope was running over halfway up and unwilling to fall on it, so did a lot of resting onto bolts and fiddling around until I was sure I could climb without falling. P1 is fun if you don't look back, and prepare some more-than-20 footwork for the start. I'd like to lead P2, but maybe with a walky talky so I can ask 'have you got me?' before every hard move as usual 🤣

Ciaran sent one of my quickdraws flying into the abyss, only for it to be greeted with a log off of a gum tree that spiralled down next to us at the first belay. Lots of back cleaning for rope drag meant i was confidently bricking it on the traverse. Blueies white whale ticked!

3rd ascent. Traverse pitch was JJ's, I did the 60m arete. I think it probably can be done on a 60m rope, and I wouldn't want to see it split with a halfway anchor. Started walking down to it at 4:20pm which was not ideal. Topped in the dark. Arete pitch is almost certainly 23, maybe even 24.

Led the main pitch. Excellent, fun climbing but can't quite rate it as Mega-Classic because of the rather arbitrary first pitch and because it has just a bit too much of that boulder-problems-between-ledges style which can get rather tiresome. The belays and pitch combinations around here could do with a bit of rationalisation. Doing a 70m pitch from the Central (Castaway) belay, as recommended by others, makes good sense - those with shorter ropes can take the Sojourn belay option and still need do only one more pitch to the top. The Subliminal first pitch is a bit of a giggle but the only hard bit would make a good alternate start to Castaway.

Man. What a find! Good news everybody I can confirm that this goes on an uncut 60m rope!! Very sustained with a variety of brilliant moves I enjoyed this in its entirety. Taking the first and last pitches as a small price to pay for what is 55m of spectacular climbing.

Pretty happy to get the onsight in horrible, hot conditions. There was a storm moving overhead and the humidity and lack of wind were disgusting! Great climb, will gladly do it again. Climbed from the belay for Sojourn/Sabbatical/Castaway, as i had planned to try one of the harder routes but it was far too hot and sweaty and instead of doing the silly long traverse pitch.

Lead pitch 2. Pitch 1 starts with a burly crimp traverse that felt pretty staunch for grade 20, then some exciting walking across a footledge for 15m. Pitch 2 has 40m of some of the awesomest rock and face climbing (and mantling) in the Blueys, then a 20m string of jug hauls and mantels between comfy belay caves (sans anchors). At last you arrive at a huge belay ledge from which you can't even see your half deaf climbing partner.

Had an interesting time abseiling in, used a fixed 70m to avoid multiple raps. Not sure if this is good beta though as we managed to core shot the rope 💀 Second pitch is the money! Keen to get back to the wall and try some of the other routes.

Unsure what the overall ascent counts as since I seconded the money pitch. Grade 20 traverse had spice, Stas may have linked into the arete slightly early, but I feel that's where the crux was anyway (excluding my inability to mantle) very hot in full sun but you gotta do what you gotta do when your friends leaving at midday...

Clip all the bolts heading down during the second and third abseils (towards "Point A" from the book, beginning of the first pitch). Otherwise you will end up floating in space. Exposed climb, Randy Rabbit feels like a walk in the park. Used 25 quickdraws. Started climbing around 12pm and the route stayed in the shade the whole time. Perfect conditions for a very hot/warm day.

Repeat. With Carlos. This time during the day, and this time I didn't get lost (in the dark) on the crux pitch. Definitely solid 23. No way in hell is this 22. Climbed the route from the Castaway belay as a warmup for some extra length (and so we didn't have to change belay stances). One of the best routes in the style (and at the grade) that I've done in the Blueys. Sustained, technical and engaging. The crux (3rd) bolt is in the wrong place. Lots of broken rock here, maybe the clipping hold is gone? Possibly the hardest move on the pitch is putting that draw on!

Surely one of the best pitches in the mountains. Endless and varied. Unfortunatley i was completely destroyed after a couple of attempts on Sabbatical so I had to hand the lead off to Paul. Who cruised it. But I'll be back and climb this in good style!

What a beautiful route! The slight overhang makes for a very pumpy climb but there are some good rests every now and then, just keep motoring. Hardest moves are probably the short traverse off the first belay, but theres a couple of hard moves lower down on the second pitch. Much more crimpy face climbing than i was expecting.

If pump wasnt a thing this pitch would be a 21. Unfortunately however, it is a thing and it has a remarkable affinity for populating in my forearms. Yim tim and jim (jack/me) set off to not repeat the plethora of day ending errors marty and i made last time. Error 1, 1st rappel rope stuck: almost happened again, needed a double person tug to free it. Error 2, dead air trap on rappel 2: almost happened again, just swung into a bolt, not quite sure how i could have done this cleaner tbh. Error 3, lost on pitch 1. Yim seemed to have no trouble finding the way. I must have been on drugs in february. We did almost cock up by getting a stopper knot stuck in dead air at the bottom, luckily it got trapped to the wall by the anchor. That would have fucked us royally. 2 ropes does lend some insurance in this way. This sport multi proves itself again to be a logistics heavy operation. The traverse pitch dished out a draw grab for me and an unlikely epic for tim who almost took a pendulum off the p1 anchor. Ask yim to send the video! (pretty dog). I was abit nervous about the big pitch but technically it wasnt hard, just managing the pump is quite tricky. Putting attention into creative rests tested my patience and ultimately i resigned myself to 2 or 3 sits. Tim pulled onto the ledge next, visibly delirious, claiming "fuck 25s at ben trovonia tomorrow". Yim still somehow had energy to do 10 pull ups off a flake on the top out pitch (wtf).

Bloody intimidating to rap into this one. Extremely overhung, you need to clip most of the draws to stay in. First anchor was higher than expected, so i passed it and had to faff back up. Freed everything except a few wet sections up top which i aided to avoid the wet rock. Not an ideal rope solo really

Jeez, where do I start? I was full of confidence until I almost fell off two moves into the traverse! It went downhill from there. Had to take a rest halfway through the traverse just to get my bearings back in order. Lead pitch two in which the bottom 30m were super sustained. Had to take several rests all the way to the top half. From that onwards it gets easier. Amazing position and climbing on really good rock! Would love to go back and do it clean.
