P1 was reasonable, crux moving left below the overhang is a bit spicy but overall there is okay pro. P2 was shocking. The rock is rotten and chossy - it was crumbling in my hands trying to grab the holds and place pro. P3 quite runout for the last 15-20m. Then you face a “P4” of bush bashing. Wouldn’t recommend this climb to friends or enemies!

Great climb besides P5. Amazingly grippy rock. Engaging climbing, especially when avoiding the questionable rock in certain sections. Took a rack with WC 0.2 - 3 cams & some wires. Ended up only using 6 placements (cams) on the entire climb. Crux at the end of P4 is more like a g20 than a g19. Awesome move though. Nice slab climbing on P6. Both anchor hangers on P6 are baldy rusted. Did not want to hang on it and belay. Ended up climbing a further ~5m diagonally R and belayed off the tree with 3 branches.

Climb 49 of 50. Arguably the most humid conditions I've ever had the displeasure of climbing in. Totally cooked. Strung pitches 4 & 5 together. Some spoogy wet stuff on pitch 4 again. I agree with other commentators that Pitch 4 is the crux and feels at least 17, possibly 18. Perhaps a hold broke at some point?

Nice climb, full shade in the afternoon this time of year, and was able to manage with a single 60m rope which was a bonus. A bit more difficult than expected climbing with a back pack on. Due to our late start we had to miss the last pitch 5.

Nice sustained climbing for the grade, with runouts/average gear to keep the easier sections fun. I'd say a fall on p4 is more likely than p1, with a tricky section also off the belay on P3. Bit of a circus, with a party of 3 above our party of 4 and a late arvo start. Finished right on dusk with eerie 60m raps into the abyss. Best grade 17 glass house multi IMO and worth 3*. 1. Remains, 2. Troposphere, 3. The Martian, 4. Zeitgeist, 5. Traxion.

I think Yim was telling the truth when he said “I’ll take the 15” of the first pitch options, but then couldn’t resist the 19 onsight, and so up he went! I thought the crux of this route was at the 15/19 intersection and found it quite tricky. One or two drop knees, followed by putting a couple hand holds back once I was done with them, and I was up.

The belay at the top of p2 is excellent (large wire, cam and thread), I don’t know why others suggested traversing onto Phoenix p2. 3 32m Second ~에 의해 선등된 Yim I had planned to lead this pitch too, but I built and anchor of the rope and neither Yim or I could be bothered swapping ends. I thought this pitch was a bit tricky near the white rock, but otherwise pretty cruisy. Decent runout to the trees / grass which form your belay.	전통등반 64m	★★ 아주좋음	Robert Hartley
I’d had my eye on this route for a while, and I’m so glad I got to spend it with Yim linking up into Trojan. Yim set his glasses on the ground and almost immediately stood on them… “How well can you see without your glasses?” are the words I used. “Can you still lead the scary pitches?” is the question I was asking. The strapping tape fix held the whole day but made for an interesting look! Gear A single rack was sufficient, maybe doubles in 2 and 3 would be useful? 00-6 (DMM) Another comment suggested a 5/6 (BD?), I took a 5 (BD) but it went unused the whole day Wires

Pretty cruisy climbing the whole way. Standout moments included trundling a few loose blocks (thankfully not on lead) and nearly pulling off a fridge sized one. Quality choss at its finest - of course Brosnan had no chossing issues being a nimble navigator weighing in at a mere 60kg. Mass movers such as myself should take care especially on the hollow flake move on p4. I would hate to see someone fall into the death gully. We placed in total I think 5 bits of gear including a tiny purple nut that fell out as soon as I climbed past it. I think there should be a pitch 7 rated V1 (vegetation 1). That final bush bash is brutal and its even worse when done in bouldering shoes. I thought it would have been like a 2 minute scramble but its more like a 15 minute one. Walked down the tourist track like chumps.

Engaging climbing with enough variety to keep you entertained. Started at 1 to be in shade and finished up the 5th pitch at 4:45pm. A light sprinkle of rain was worrying as we started the 2nd, but the sky stayed clear for the ‘remains of the day’. Highlights were pitch 3 and 4, though pitch 5 was also great for mostly being trad.

After overcoming the initial fear, this turned out to be a unique and enjoyable route. Started at 2 and rapped out off Remains of the Day at dark. Many critters were spotted, including a bat in the chimney, friendly skinks on the belay ledge and a cane toad on the walkout. Highlight of the day was when I dropped my nut tool off the top of P3 and Issy quickly untied from the belay, leapt backwards, and caught it between her teeth. Catch of the century if you ask me.

I'd built this up in my head as something a lot bigger and scarier than it is. Though I also happened to second the spicier pitches, so... Overall a stellar afternoon with a nice breeze and pretty views from in the chimney. Read Nick Kress 's log for a recount of the most insane catch of his nut tool, which fell off his harness while he was in the guts of the chimney on pitch 3. Never been one for ball sports, so was pretty proud of myself!

Found a pristine little nut placement at the top of pitch 1 ready to attack the blank wall ahead then looked right and not only saw the intended route but some nice shiny anchors so decided it was time for jack to start climbing. He then continued to breeze up the rest of patience crack which took us a bit further away from overexposed than anticipated. This meant it was my turn to do some route finding, fortunately, it was fairly straightforward along a traverse that involved more grass trees then rock.

Racking up at base of the route I realise we lost our first totem 😢 😢 😢 sad sad days. Good bye purple buddy. In other news i shat my pants big time on this rock climb. After seeing Kobi smash out the direct grade 19 start, i got way too scared doing just the 15 variant and had to sit on gear. Same story on P2, but actually enjoyed the climbing on this pitch, didn't layback much but got the world’s best fist jam just as I was getting scared in a section with bad feet. Didnt like the belay ledge at end of P1, gear was average and ledge was muddy. Would recommend belaying from rap chains below ledge (ignore the first set of chains with rusty maillon and continue on to nice shiny rings a few metres up) I think i blew past any good spots to belay end of P2, so did a sketchy traverse left to the end chains of Phoenix and abseiled from there. If doing again would probably end P2 wherever I could find a good 3-piece anchor. Lia also received a pant-soiling moment when a massive block exploded a little to her left. Turns out Kobi ripped off a flake on “Overexposed” and took a TEN METRE WHIPPER ripping out two cams. Jeepers…

Somehow forgot how scary this two weeks ago and decided to do it again to take wife up??? Got to tibro 9AM to scout the base of crags from desperation to celestial wall, all fire and brimstone. Retreat to ghm for garlic bread & beers till afternoon. Leisurely sunday approach back to carborudum wall, pretty good buzz going, start P1 @ 420PM. Everyone in QLD has it all wrong with the earlybird starts, late arvo is definitely the go. Less melanoma, less heat, less stress. No linked pitches or gear in back of chimney, much more enjoyable after learning lessons with big rope drag last time. Only required chimney protection being piton runners and chockstones… Top out 820PM, 4 hours bottom to top. Soft grade 11 reckons Lia. Hopefully we are now ready for satans smokestack …. Maybe after waiting till Winter….

1230 collect Alex from Mooloolaba Convince him to charge my batteries so i can power phone while living out of a tent in the bush Almost get into a car accident merging into some girl on the bruce, must have been in my blindspot or something, luckily I change lanes really slowly like an old man…… sorry bruce girl… Oh well, not as bad a start as last time at Tibro where I accidentally short-roped Alex while he was free-soloing (sorry)… 1315 at climbers carpark Alex says “I’m gonna wear pants since we are trad climbing”. Pfft as if, it’s QLD summer… (the fact that the climb is named Carborundum Chimney should have set off alarm bells. Last chimney at frog i promised myself to ALWAYS wear pants, long sleeves, and long socks) ……Proceed in shorts and no t shirt. Sweaty approach but we take it slow, old man style. Alex link’s first 2 pitches, i link 3-4. DO NOT - I REPEAT, DO NOT PLACE CAMS IN BACK OF CHIMNEY. Massive rope drag ensued, almost pulled me off a couple of times while doing big thrutches. Should have trusted the pitons and chockstones… Quick abseil to the base for cold chilli beans and rice crackers. Double rack and 20 alpine draws was a bit overkill for a route with barely any gear🙂 Event-free drive back to Mooloolaba, sadly no victory VB longneck as Alex is off the turps till Bali… caramel flavour servo oat milk and guzman gomez burrito will suffice. Did not forget battery, all is well in the hobo bush camp

5 person gumblie train up this absolute institute of a route. Jarred chartered straight up a blank slab with some sporadic rps to avoid rope drag which was wild. I again managed to drop a couple turrets down the chimney which is unfortunately dangerous and hard to avoid. I helpfully recommended jarred and ella sling backpacks below then as they topped oit of the chimney. Kobi and georgia cruised through behind us with impeccable wriggle techas.

First time that I climbed the last two pitches and the 24 variant.. Idk about p6 - it's very wandery and chossy and a pain to abseil from. I would - like last time - finish after p4 and abseil back down.

Probably need to change the grade of the second last pitch from 15 to 18/19. No way that is grade 15 lol. Last pitch crux was very solid for a 21. The climbing on the last two pitches were amazing. Started on a different multi pitch grade 17, however when we saw the black wall to the right and the cool chimney thing above, we decided to hope over. So glad we did!

Nice trad multi, plenty of gear for Tibro standards. We did the 19 direct variant on p1 and built an anchor in the corner crack for p2. For p3 I found a few trees to belay from, they were small but alive and there a few of them for redundancy. The bush bash on to Caves route was not very enjoyable though, would have been great to be able to rap down.
