took one rest to figure where I was suppose to go, at the 2nd bolt

I took one rest at the second bolt after traversing left.

A fun engaging climb with an early crux on the first pitch that is thankfully protected by bolts; sport climbing at Bon Echo! It`s listed as an old school 5.8 (feels more like 5.10b for 3 moves); I had to take here. Crux beta as follows: from a 2 hand sloper, you cross over and fall into a right handed ramp. Match and then throw for a slopey left hand side pull. Lock off and then find the jugs. The rest of the route is 5.3. Be careful on the ramp for the 3rd pitch; lots of large loose blocks (soccer ball sized) rest on it. I accidentally dislodged 2 of them and narrowly missed my belayer. Standard Rack.

Did this line twice, second run was better when I figured out some beta on it. Still had to rest. This is my next project so I can climb it clean.

Reclimbed to get gear. Ended up leaving two pieces -- a tricam in a pocket and an older cam where the cam-wires broke (boo!).

Bottom half to the ledge was easy to work out, challenging still on the footwork for newer climbers like myself. Getting passed the spot where sap was leaking out of the rock was spicy, gotta stick left.....

One fall.

Fun crux

Found a couple of big pieces of loose rock. Cleaned them on the way down, but missed a move by almost kicking them off.

Dogged up it, with a couple hauls on the nylon jugs down low, and one solid fall in the upper crux.

Tried the more direct line; I think it will go -- but I'll want a warmer day when my fingers aren't complaining about the cold while I'm working out the moves.

First few moves over the first over-hanging bit is the hardest, then over to the second one it's a matter of friction and compression to get over the second over-hanging bit. Second half is not even worth bothering with.

Bolt 2->3. Very thin edges face/slab climbing, took a lot of tries to find moves that worked. Not sure if I actually got a working sequence due to falling on the rope too many times, but think I might have.

Protections are scary, could use an additional bolt.

Still can't get the finger lock first try, great climb!

Tried the alternate start on Mad Hatter. Top portion was slimy so I had to rest and use the root.

Tricky to read up to bolt 3, then easy after that. I should be able to red-point this no problem, if I can remember the beta.

The move to pull onto the slab is far harder than anything else on the climb. Sadly, this spoils the nature of the climb.

Tried the direct a couple times before bailing to the easier choice. Also wandered around while climbing it.

Difficult for the grade

Used the right edge past the third bolt then made my way back left.

Spent a long time and many tries finding the best way over the overhang. Once I finally got up to the jug, straightforward climb.
