Ascents as Onsight by Garth Wimbush

Nice line! Happy to have ticked this after looking at it for a number of years.

I enjoyed this climb immensely; it was quality the whole way. There was a really interesting move onto a small tufa, where it was all about getting your feet high, then some lovely pocket-pulling, before some more tufa to the chains.

Superb! The crux involved a traverse out to an arete to avoid a blank wall, then a hand traverse back to the bolt. I had a little wail when off to the side, until I saw a convenient foothold; the fall looked nasty.

Hard seam initially, very thin. I used double ropes and did it in one pitch; almost dropped off through pump getting to arete! Would have been an exciting swing...

Really nice. Still cleaning up a bit, but only broke a bit of 1 hold that I can remember. Also, I still have a numb middle finger from cranking on the crux hold that Tim Smith broke!

Short, but neat. Nipping left to the arete seems like a bit of a cheat, but not using it would up the grade to 30, looking at the holds from the chains!

Beautiful, and not really runout. The Rockover above skink was exhilarating. Mike kindly let me lead both pitches.

I noticed in the Shepherd guide that there was a peg protecting the crux move; this is no longer there, and made the crux move a lot more exciting, in my opinion!

The climb still seems to be cleaning up. I broke off at least 3 holds (although none of them were key). Nice though.

Surprisingly nice! Good gear, too, although my last piece was one wire just above the Illequipt branch.

A bit greasy, but a fun, sustained, mandatory-jamming crack.

I like the mantle; easier than most, due to a nice lip!

Somewhat scary start up to the first bolt, which is a beauty, unless you have hangers that don't fit it! Make sure they are the largest you have for this climb (2 needed). My recent sojurn to Araps got me up this easily.
