Ascents by Mark Gamble having Trad CPR

A few rests at the 4th bolt. The move into the alcove stymied me.

First time in about 20yrs, but the rain meant I had to retreat.

2-3 rests, but made it! A May Zing.

Good lead by Hilton.

The general consensus seems to be that this is the route.

Lovely climbing over grippy rock.

Several hangs, mostly to check-out gear.

Couldn't manage the crux without a rest. 4.5hrs sleep just doesn't cut it. :-(

Brilliant rock, brilliant climbing. Easily the best, so far, at the Grey Wall. Nice confident lead Gen.

Wasn't expecting to get up this one with only 3 rests. :-|

10,000 rests = piece of cake!

Nice. Clean straight forward.

This always feels equal to PR in my books. Don't really understand why the grade extra.

Always up for this delightful trad lead. Gear is good to just below anchors.

Was all going swimmingly untill I bombed-out at the balancy move halfway.

Couldn't get past the lower crux.

No rests 3rd try.

Pitches 1,2,3 & 5 were good. Pitch 4 a nightmare of broken, shitty rock + vegetation.

According to the grade, I've not climbed the correct route. Definitely nothing harder than 4-5ish. Hmmmm. 🤔

P4 just gets better and better. Minimal gear with to travel light.

Inso-mania + Arthur was visiting. :-(

Got to the crux without too much issue, and that's where the holidays ended.

The hollow flake is a bit of a worry. Otherwise not bad climbing.

Up to crux, no more partying.

Basically a fall fest at both cruxes.

Another clean ascent.

With some guidance, stuck that tricky start move, then all good.

Amazingly, I got there in one go.

With Justin. Stuffed up above last bolt, rest needed :-(

with Damo. Stuffed around a bit needed a rest, but otherwise good.

Made it to the first crux.

After Rob. Almost didn't get the cux move.

2 attempts. Both ship wrecks. But got as far as the lip on #2. I think 16 is not unreal for this route.

Bit of a tricky start, with algae all over, but once you're at the first bolt, it's interesting climbing. Good crux sequence.

Did this after onsiting the other 2. What a climb! Love it. Take a #7,8 or 9 nut with if you don't like 4m runouts, for the sweet hand crack halfway between FH3 & 4. Crux is definitely the mantle between FH4 & 5. Daniel belayed, but couldn't get his head around the overhang, so I had to climb it again to retrieve my gear.

Something of an epic day: we didn't top-out till around 19:30.

New mat installed around the tree on pitch 3. Good job done. Hopefully it will keep the tree going another 8 years.

Had to have a go at this whilst in the neighborhood. Certainly lives up to the reputation: some of the biggest holds in S.E. Qld.

With Craig. This one has some nice moves on it.

Quite a nice route actually. A tad overgraded.

Eskimo Nell is about the same difficulty.

A very tough & serious lead. Doesn't earn a "very good" rating as you can do serious damage taking a fall while clipping the 3rd bolt, hitting the ledge below. I really had to strain to get the moves on this one. The top part, the crack is just a fab. ending with great gear.

Just glad to make it to the chains.

Pushed too soon. Had to take a rest just before the crux. Not too many down there today. Relatively cool tho.
