Top roped this and the climb to the right of it (Varlain, 18). There is a guidebook online which has more detail about these climbs. There is only a single bolt at the top of this climb, so we used the bolts for a climb across. The rock on this wall is a bit unreliable; partner and I had a few holds on the easy sections pop off in our hands and were glad we weren’t leading. I’m sure with a bit more traffic it will get cleaned up. The music wall (around the corner) has more reliable rock. Great exposure and atmosphere.

Toproped first, then Nicolle seconded. Her first proper lead! We then toproped The Roaring Forties (19; the next climb across to the right as you face the wall) which was fantastic. Shares anchors with this climb.

Went back to try again. I can feel the final move and the top hold is good, but slightly above my risk tolerance without a spot. Coming off final move would end in a sideways fall head first into a rock

What can I say? A great hard adventure not for the faint hearted. Sharp rock, giant crystals, slabby with thin edges, great friction. Long run outs of up to 6 metres on mixed hangers and natural protection. Fell when a thin as nails crimp pulled off. Made it to what I think was the second last hanger before bailing. Fun and hairy.

Great warmup. The roof was pumpy. Just follow the fixed hangers, just bring binoculars to spot them.... they are that far apart. Great climb. Worth three stars.

This route is awesome. A few unnerving runouts through hollow flakes but it all adds to the fun. Some super exposed moves over the roof on bomber cams!

Fell going past the first bolt, virtually to ground level. Should have started again, because I got it clean after that. First bolt is uncomfortably high, definitely in a don't fall zone. Thanks to Dirk for putting the draws up.

Great, long, varied route with some committing thin moves, but well bolted overall. Recommended. Must be more than 10 bolts, because I ran out of draws.

After Ash melted down on that stupid traverse (leading it is safer than seconding) I shaked off the hypothermia and went for it. I didnt realise this was a trad rout, so had little pro. Stood on a few nuts to make sure they didnt pop out. Big reaches and huge exposure made this a fitting summit push for me and Ash. Thanks Ashleeeeee
