Ascents in Melchtal having Beta

Was a bit wet and dirty

We (knowingly) climbed this in 8C w/ 70kph wind gusts so it was spicier than it needed to be.

The route is definitely chossy and has some runouts on not-that-great holds. Beware climbing below other parties and be confident at the grade. A lot of the harder moves are sketchy-ish feet with sloper-ish crimps.

Plenty of rockfall and a bonus sketchy traverse due to going the wrong way on pitch 4. Check the topo often.

We started super late and abandoned the route at the base of the last pitch, but it was still a pretty fun adventure.

If you're in high wind and it starts raining, don't worry, it's probably just the waterfall nearby =P

Quite athletic for the grade.

Nice overhanging one on mostly good holds. Small bouldery crux in the middle part.

schöne Kletterei aber auch ausgesetzt, mental anspruchsvoll und sehr abgeklettert.

Super tolle Route im genialen Felsen. Schlüsselstelle nicht ganz ohne. Wunderbare Aussicht

Powerful start sequence followed by some big moves over a roof. Not an easy Jump at the very end 🤩 loved this one!

Short but fun. Good holds lead through an overhang. Safe runouts. There is a pre-installed, non locking carabiner, secured to a second bolt by old rope at the top.

Fantastic route, water pocketed limestone like you've never touched before. Long approach but definitely worth it. The grade felt more like 6b+ on all pitches except the 5c's. Especially the three 6a+ pitches feel harder than the 6b's that come before it. Luckily the route is super well bolted so often it's possible to skip crux moves.

What an adventure!!! Must do (even tho its quite polished)

Felt so close on the first go, falling at the top of the crux, then faced the usual second go amnesia

Pure endurance beast on tiny super sharp crimps (dont do it if you want to climb something else on this day :-D I wanted to try snake dance and lost all my skin in this one :-D ) No real crux in this one, just a little hard to read and well, I thought my endurance is okay, but this one told me better Fell twice at the exact same hold because I went out of juice on these small crimps... quite nice line tho.

What a beauty- First part is slightly overhanging with long moves on relatively good holds, then a more technical first crux on poor footholds, fell at the second (main) crux on super super tiny crimps. Didnt have enough skin for a second try, its super super sharp. Def come back for this one with better skin

Athletic overhanging crux on underlings/undercling-sidepulls.

Why putting an anchor in the vegetable part on the left when there is solid rock on the right?! Needs restructuring...

One specific crux on sharp crimps in the middle part. Desperate os fight because I messed up the crux and had the wrong hand on the wrong crimp...

Did not climb the 7a pitches clean. Beautiful 6c (3rd pitch), 6c+ (8th) and 6b (9th)

Really inhomogeneous line. A flowy juggy 5b/c start leads into a hardish 2-3 move boulder crux. Afterwards juggy finish again.

Nice techy line with some alpine character.

Extraordinary overhanging athletic line at this grade.

You have to hang on a huge bloc of rock to get over the overhang, which seems to come off sooner or later. Tried to avoid it, but this would be much harder than the grade.

Interesting line with an athletic overhaning part and a delicate techy finish on the slab.
