Pitch 3 is worth some hype. Great movement, varied and a potential heart breaker last move.

Awesome route, with all pitches having exciting and engaging sections. One of the most consistenly interesting multis out this way. Will be back to clean it up, the two crux sections both got me, but it all goes, and well worth it.

Well led by the big fella. A real tough sequence a few bolts before the anchor. I just managed to squeak it out clean on second.

This is probably the best short multi I've ever done. The approach was already a small adventure, as those raps are long and exposed as hell. Pitches 1 and 2 are a lot of fun and I was quite stoked to onsight pitch 2. I'm claiming an onsight of the route here cause I didn't fall anywhere, but I seconded the crux pitch (3), and without Andrew's beta wouldn't have made it, so would have been a different story on the sharp end. Pitch 4 is not on par with the others (but it's not terrible), but 1 and 2 are great, and 3 is absolutely sensational. I really want to lead it next time — note to self at crux: once getting to the small crimps, make sure to note where that left foot 'slot' is before you move up, that makes all the difference in the world. Then hand jam in the crack higher up, sort feet, change to undercling, attack the gastone on the right, and find the high jug. What an experience and what a position.

I was silently shitting it before this one. I had teed this up with nathan after mouthing off about it at the freezer a week ago and it really only occured to me the night before how ambitious this really was. An airy rap down and we were under the climb. How many 24s you done? Nathan asked. Not many. I set off up the wet open book and surprised myself with a dogless run up the 40m opener. Panting as i brought up nathan. He blasted out an onsight for p2 which i came to appreciate greatly when it came my turn. Found that top section nails even with some draw pulling. We were looking good around midday for top of p2 and we could practically see the finish line. I took the lead back for p3 intending to belay after the traverse and let nath lay siege to the overhung finish. I remembered how scary traverses were at the start of the big ledge and did the only thing i know how.. find a rest. Not just any rest on this occasion. I catapulted half my body into the filthy cavelet above the rail and shuffled across for 10m clipping bolts. Feeling as though i had cheated my way to the anchors, i shimmied along until the cave ran out and i found some incut sand crimps to lower my trembling body off the ledge and onto some footer. 1 hard sequence to the anchors. Faffed around for quite a while trying to find the sequence and eventually committed. Until today i had never powerscreamed and couldnt understand how one could exert themselves sufficiently to require it. I pulled in and snatched a hold that i just managed to maintain and bellowed out a yell over the grose valley. The next 4 seconds were slow-mo and i resigned myself to the fact that i could not compress enough to make the next snatch. I took the swing down. After a few attempts, i had a go at traversing lower and making my way up a very dodgy looking flake by swinging through the blank section. I pulled my body weight onto the flake and it exploded off the wall. At this point morale had hit rock bottom. 10m of rope ascension just to get back to the draw and a retreat back across the traverse lay ahead. I made the grim trip back and nathan had a crack. I was immediately happy with my horizontal chimney decision because the face traverse looked insane. Once we were both across with much rope and gear assistance, we jugged out the fixed rope we had set for the first rap. With beer and burgers on our minds, we sorted the gear and trooped back to the van bound for the pub in blackheath where an old drunk lady gave 'our generation' shit for being glued to our phones. This one has to go into the 'epic' category. Not because of the drunk lady, that wasnt too much skin off the back. Some lessons were learnt; not throwing myself at traverse pitches 3 points above my max while on a rap-in multi would be one, and if i am, at least confirm said pitches are aidable. I was stoked to try hard on exposure and climb aswell as i did today. It was a positive experience overall and lucky to benefit from the level-headedness of nath solving problems and getting us up the hill to safety.

A big, adventurous day out. Hard to rate, quality-wise, as this is very much a route of two parts. But a multipitch is the sum of all its parts. The lower half I would rate as "average", the upper half I'd rate as "good". P1 - Average (Onsight) - A few okay moves, but poor rock and a scary sandy choss finale; P2 - Good (Second, Unclean {clean from 1st bolt up, a heel slip at the first bolt meant I couldn't redo the first gr19 move off the ledge for the tick!}) - Roofy bouldering (not as hard as it looks), then balancy thin arête/face climbing on crumbly holds; P3 - Good/Very Good (Dog) - Great moves and rock on the arête (though neither of us could free a move past the 2nd bolt, a big muddy patch looks like a key flake is gone), but the bail-out to the dirty, mossy grey rock halfway up isn't so pleasant. Might be okay with a wire-brushing. The finale is exhilarating. P4 - Average (second) - Unpleasant, snappy roof boulder (I broke off a few big holds straight away, and it became V1-million as a result) to a dirty, fragile grey slab. P5 - Crap (Onsight) - Wall-of-tree vertical gardening, complete with jumaaring up a fixed rope, and more bush-bashing. Ugh. P6 - Very Good (Onsight) - Rock is a mixed bag, but its a long, technical pumper with oodles of exposure, and a complex finale that is probably easy to fall off. P7 - Very Good (Onsight) - Linked into next pitch for a 60m monster. Saved entirely by the quality of the climbing, as the rock is deteriorating again. Very unlikely sustained blunt-arête climbing, with a particularly gripping style. My forte. P8 - Good (Clean Repeat) - Linked from previous pitch. Rock fast deteriorating, but I enjoy the style of complex face-climbing. I ended up off-route and did a heinous boulder-problem to get back on route, complete with power screams. P9 - Average (Dog) - Never worked out the first boulder move off the ledge, but battled my way up to link the rest to the end of the pitch. Sandy, snappy, and unpleasant climbing. Almost just worth walking up the adjacent gully, rather than climbing this.

The approach isn't too hard, but it's a long wall-of-tree bush-bash from the base of Hotel C, which is surprisingly time-consuming. We didn't see the sun all day at this time of year, which made for rather cold climbing. None of the bolts were particularly hard to get to/clip on lead, nor was it particularly run-out. Grades were pretty much bang-on, no sandbaggery. Due to no traffic in at least 8 years, as well as proximity below the waterfall, much of this route is quite dirty and mossy.

Super awesome route. Just like some classic rad trad but with a squillion bolts. First pitch is really fun and quite sustained but probably not 23, i think 22 is fair. I thought pitch two is even better again, being fairly moderate till about half way where it gradually gains intensity until the very end. Here the crux was made quite tricky as the entire upper section of the face was problematically saturated and almost none of the face holds were at all useable. Hence i channelled my inner trad dad and power stemmed the corner direct to glory. Not sure of the grade here; the moves would certainly be pretty gnarly for a 23 but i dont really onsight 24 and it was pretty much only the one hard sequence coming out of a good rest, so maybe it isn't too bad. The last pitch was also really cool with the traverse being awesome and super out there. I found the crux quite difficult to read and subsequently fell off After it was figured though out the moves were fine. Definitely deserving more attention! Get on it!!

Good day out ticking off the guide book cover. A good route over all that, whilst not containing amazing climbing, was just a very fun thing to do. Lots of big moves on big jugs with plenty of metal to clip and not too hard at the grade.

just a word for those who may be pushing the boat out at this grade. It is hard. The 1st pitch is solid 22 and maybe 23. The 2nd pitch (40mts) is magic with one move just before the belay that will challenge. The traverse is fun but I reckon you should belay at the end of the traverse before moving vertically up the last few metres. It could really do with a proper Belay station here. Otherwise you can incur a lot of drag and not be able to look after your second if they come off the traverse. We took a couple of bolt brackets to give a bit of courage when we were struggling with clips. Small cams also came in handy on the third pitch. A fun day out for two old blokes.

Well, it's pretty average indeed. Starts off the same "block" as Rutger Hauer, straight into a chossy corner. But enjoy it as it only gets worse! The anchor for P2 is actually just off to the RIGHT half way up the chossy chimney of doom - two carrots on a small stance just outside the chimney (Che belayed off the ring bolt on the LHS of the rooflet, essentially pulling the crux of P3 with 40m of rope drag). P3 is probably "the money", however I think drag could be a problem. P4 has a few solid slab moves for an 18 and some pretty exciting scrub scramble sections up the top. And P5 is literally death on a stick - it might be worth moving the belay to the bottom of P5 (only 1 ring to belay off though). It's only 5m or so of climbing, but wait until you do the grass mantle... I'd take at least a single rack up to BD5.

Sensational. OS p1, great stemming up the long corner, p2 fell off on 2nd at the last move of the crux, truly desperate. Loved the lusty traverse into the flake and upwards into a nails hard sequence of two finger pockets sharp sidepulls and sandy slopers... nails! A bold first ascent, phew...

Pitch 1 OS - Awesome long pitch up the corner, was pretty tired by the end of it. Pitch 2, 2nd - Probably easier climbing than pitch 1 up until the crux just before the anchor. Took a few falls on 2nd to get through the crux, wet crimps made this hard. Wicked climbing. Pitch 3, dog - Mega pumpy traverse up to some hard moves that took a couple of goes to work out. Awesome route, will be back to clean up the dogs.

With JengA. Awesome! P1 - 2nd Clean; P2 - Dog (fell off one move from the jugs right at the end of the pitch... One of the crux microcrimps was seeping, and after being on it for a while desperately clipping the bolt, I finally slimed off when I tried to move off it; P3 - 2nd Clean. P1 and P2 are stunning wide-open-book techno-stemming (probably 23 an 24 respectively) with the last 5m of P2 being desperate. P3's wild traverse is easy but gripping, and the crux finale is a dyno-happy pumpfest.

With JengA. P1 - 2nd Clean; P2 - Onsight; P3 - 2nd Clean; P4 - Onsight. Much better than I expected with P1 being forgettable but not too bad, and every pitch that followed being genuinely good climbing. The stemming on P2 is funky. The loooong traverse on P3 is wild and exciting. And the thin balancy slab climbing on P4 is bloody technical and tricky. The only thing that sucks is the gully bash to get out (rope up for it, or finish up P8 of Slackbladder). Totally worthwhile.

P1 (clean second), P2 (clean lead), P3 & 4 - linked (clean second). Mild Peril is better. First 2 pitches are okay (probably make a good warm up for P3 if this is your first climb of the day), but completely unremarkable. P3 is brilliant! Sequences of hard moves broken up by good rest stances, on a slightly steep wall, with a spicey and committingly desperate finish. I'd readily lead the third pitch next time. Might be able to rap in and do the top 2 pitches if you can find the top.

P1 (clean Lead ), P2 (clean second), P3 (1 rest after dyno, before main crux - Lead), P4 (clean second). Way better than I expected, maybe one of the best all-around routes I've done at Pierces. Second pitch is amazingly long and pumpy, with only a few hardish sequences. Third pitch has about 6m of bloody hard moves (I think it would be hard to onsight without knowing the trick move at the crux). Mostly good rock, awesome position, cool moves. What more could you ask for?
