Cool route! Reachy in places. I’d think 23 for the first pitch is more in line with the feel for the rest of the route? Was a little damp in a few places after all the recent rain but ok. Really appreciate the recent rebolt! On P1 a 60m rope makes it from base of wall to belay at P2 to save moving the belay, comfier spot to belay also. Used 18 quickdraws(3 were long).

Dogshow lap in the Sun (Sun from 11-12ish). Beta notes: P2.1 - First crux - left heel beta worked ok, move off the v grove, left thumb down, right above, high feet to L sloper and up to either L or R jugs. P2.2 - left crimp, right gluey side-flake, up to left undercling, high feet, left to sneaky crimp rail. |

The best rock on this climb, every other pitch is kinda chossy and sharp. 3 star boulder problem that would have a constant que if it were at shipley, maybe hard for the grade or maybe i didnt use good beta and it was super caked with chalk, proud for the o/s either way

such a great and high quality multi pitch with a joke of an approach. First pitch offers 50m of sustained technical climbing, fourth pitch provides best quality rock with some cruxy technical moves, and the last two pitches while not offering anything too technical (just some burly bouldery starts) give you a great sense of exposure of 200m of void under your butt.
Accidentally combined second and third pitches (70m rope) which turned out to be not so bad (third pitch is soft btw). took a fall at the start of the fourth pitch, touching the ledge with my butt on the stretch (good catch Rollacoasta ) so make sure you clip a short draw in the belay bolt while starting as the move is not very secure. I also struggled a bit establishing myself on the wall after turning the roof on the 5th pitch (where the hell did all the holds go, must have fallen off lol). Also grabbed a draw at the end of the last pitch where it gets a bit thin as I was getting tired and roasted on the sun so didn't feel like taking a whip with an unknown amount of slack and stretch lol. Overall my favourite Mountain sport multi to date. Jump on it. It's so user friendly after the terrific rebolt

Moss then Choss is the best way to describe this adventure. we used double 60ms and a double rack to 0.75 with triples of #1 #2 #3 with x1 #4.
The first 3 pitches were your standard dirty cracks which were wet for us The grade 20 Pitch is not one where you want to blow the crux and you will more than likely deck. (select the tallest member of your party for this pitch so they can throw in a nut to protect the crux. The turtle beach pitch was seaside getaway I was hoping for! which lead to Plastic Beach (belay of P6). Where Ange backed off the last pitch and I didn't want to have a go due to the terrifying nature of the pitch. So we got Stubbsy and Sean to drop us a rope. As I recovered our gear from the pitch this morning I am incredibly happy with our choice. |

A pant filling adventure. I hope you’ve been doing your Kegels if you are heading this way. Soggy dirty moss situation can be found on the first three pitches, with pretty good gear and solid rock. You’ll love this if you are into landscaping. This changes towards pitch 4 where the moss recedes giving way to choss. Belays are all safe thanks to some beefing up in recent years but don’t count to to place anything that would fill you with joy on the last two pitches. The turtle beach pitch is actually quite fun, I didn’t have to do any crawling and just traversed along the wall pretty comfortably after staring in the eye of the antique carrots bashed into splitting claysand. Bailed off the last pitch after wandering around for half and hour in the sea of brittle ironstone and no gear. Some jugging angels had mercy and dropped us the rope from the top. The last pitch is definitely a bold undertaking

Good day out with Moby, Ben n Marty. Surprisingly straightforward approach, took about 25min. Spent a bit of time trying to minimise rope drag on pitch 1. Climbed straight to the second anchors and felt like I had an anvil tied to my harness.
Cruised up to the roof and gave Moby a quick rundown on rope signals then turned the corner and left him hanging.
Aided through the start of the final pitch. Falling on lead or second could be pretty bad for your rope with the amount of ironstone you traverse across. The fourth pitch is the best climbing by a significant margin. Also found no real problems being shorter on any of the pitches.

working out crux sequences and gear on top rope. lower crux has a very sustained sequence which I stick 50% of the time, it's got good gear. the top crux after rest cave is very powerful but it's just one move really and you can have a great rest before. Found a reasonably good #3 placement in the horizontal break on the right of the cave which I think should protect top crux reasonably well (looks better than all the super thin gear in the main crack)

Great route, pitches are definitely much shorter than the guidebook says, but good quality. The first and fourth pitch grades are on the money others felt soft. 4 hours car to car

Hope it gets plenty of traffic now

Wow what a day and what an amazing route!
Thanks Lee Cujes for the info you posted on thecrag after having done the route. It was really helpful for us.
The best pitch (and best quality rock) was definitely the 4th Crux pitch. The other pitches were generally a tad sharp and the rock quality was a little poor. Pitches 5 and 6 had probably the worst quality rock, I had two hand-sized holds break on me on these pitches, which luckily just missed my belayer. With the added exposure pitch 6 felt extra spicy! Being short would make pitch 4 quite tough, but the other pitches had several options for shorter folk. All in all an amazing position with some real quality climbing! Thanks also for the recent rebolt! It would have been a huge effort and it has made this route so much more accessible - Cheers!! ^_^ |

Really great and even better since the terrific Monty rebolt (this would have been SUCH a mission and a generally thankless task - so THANKS NEIL!)
Left Blackheath at 1:45pm and topped out at 6pm for a sunset view over the Grose, perfect. Easy to get to, great climbing, and easy walk back to the car. For some reason I had it in my mind that the first pitch was grade 20, this definitely felt full value at 20. Felt better when I looked at the topo and saw it was not 20. I always find the black rock a bit spooky. More of an adventure feel than the other pitches. Have the most confident climber lead pitch 1. As a general comment, I can see why short people get shut down on one or more moves on this route. There were some reachy moves that I couldn't see any alternative. It's also worth mentioning that because all pitches start from comfortable ledges, the first few moves off the ledge (which are sometimes undercut roof starts) present a danger for the second to fall and hit the ledge. For example, a low 20's climber would be safer to lead the second pitch rather than second it. |

Yay!
All things considered I must be the weakest climber to have done this. When I first had a look last year it was a solid 2 grades above my limit, and although I'm stronger now and can crawl up a 25 or two, the mental aspect remains. All in one pitch, naturally (shit pitch included 🙂). On that note, there are enough ways to bail from the mid anchor that I'd support it being removed. |

As close as it would be possible to get to the send without getting the send 😟 Breezed through the crux pretty solid but dropped the very very very last move before the rest cave (it's like a gr20 move wtf?).
Anyway, large whip ensued which deposited me well below the mid-anchors. I now own one less ball-nut than I did yesterday. I have this route frustratingly wired. Like, it's actually uncomfortable that I can render it perfectly in 3D at the most inopportune moments. |

Onsight attempt. I was really psyched to give it my best shot in one single pitch, armed with my 8.9mmx100m French weaponry. It was quite obvious that the dirty first pitch section wouldn't be the most pleasant but I managed without complaining too much. Shortly after passing the first anchor, I pulled on a crimp and I felt it moving and that was enough to disgruntle me. I sat on my gear inspecting the rock to find out that the crimp was only a part of a flush chockstone, and I didn't even have to use it. I put my shit together and although the true proper onsight was gone, I continued in an onsighting mode. I was too short to reach easily the hold before the mid anchor and really had to pull hard with foot in the crack real high and deadpoint. Went easily through the rooflet but the V hold was so greasy and my gear was so bad (crunchy Z4-0.1) I sat on it and managed to place a good DMM offset nut just before the cam set itself free, pfffff. At that point I was running out of med nuts and stripped the nut in the rooflet as I was very pleased with the DMM crux nut. I brushed a bit the V hold and gave it a better shot which didn't worked out too well, the small fall turned out a bit more epic than expected when the crux nut popped out and I travelled through space and time until the nut + long sling I placed next to the mid anchor held me. Man it was a pretty big fall. I called it a day at that point.

In good news I am alive, did everything clean with no dramas, onsighted both lower "pitches" which I had not yet worked, and following that ripped only two wires!
Thats one ripped wire more (better? 🤔) than Jacques did so I guess I should be happy... or something... In "other" news, I greatly underestimated how downright terrifying this is on lead (especially in send mode). There is truly no room for error once the hard bit starts - clip it or whip it, and the whips will be big. |

Rad day out with Jon! Such a cool climb really great moves. I tried to be brave and lead the first pitch but traversed waaaaaay too far to left and went back and forth a few times unable to see the next bolt. 10m back and forth from my bolt I just kept saying "well I'm not blind Im not blind" Apparently I am blind cause Jon went up and found the bolt quite quickly. Rest of route was rad. 4th pitch is tech goodness 5th pitch is extra fun if you are carrying a backpack (just don't fall). Fun day out in perfect conditions

Super puppy first pitch. Hard without a warm-up – I felt like the fat kid in a crossfit class going up it! It hammered me. Recommend working on your endurance before jumping on it. Most pitches have difficult starts. Excellent climbing through 3rd and 4th pitches. A few committing and reachy moves on the 4th if you're short. The roof on the 5th is awesome and pumpy. Great exposure on the 6th to finish.

definitely not a route to try in summer, with the sun on it...
But this is hands down one of the best routes I've tried in a while. mind you I didn't have the fear instilled by leading it. Fairly straight-forward climbing in the first half with what looks like pretty good gear, before heading up into the thin section. Some shouldery moves getting established in the thin crack which looks like it will be pretty hard to protect/place gear while there on lead. Will be getting back on this whenever I can!! |

Repeat attempt (not clean). This is almost starting to feel like a ritual: repeat lap(s) on Grasshopper followed by one hail mary attempt at le grande link.
