Combined P2 and 3, with the wandering it's probably closer to 40/45m. P4 is the best beginner lead on the climb with great pro, fun climbing and a simple belay.

Giving this ascent a 10 as did the last pitch in the dark. Always bring a headtorch. That lesson only needs to be learned once. First time leading the majority of a big multipitch, learned heaps. Good experience.

Almost an epic as we wandered out of camp quite late in the day with one precautionary headtorch between us. Kyla linked p2-3 which was a pretty good lead considering the runout and rope drag for a first week trad climbing. Finished up well and truly in the dark with Kyla seconding the last pitch one-handed holding a phone torch, 3 stars for the hilarious faffery

Didn't follow the route exactly, pitch one as normal, pitch two and three linked together but rather than heading to the right arete cave for pitch 3 I went straight up to the left arete cave as it offered shade from the afternoon sun. From the left cave belay headed back out right onto the face and finished as per normal. Great route, great protection.

linked pitches 2 and 3 which worked well as my partner did a good job of extending the pieces at the start of pitch 2 where it wanders a bit. Rope drag was really not a problem.

A 12-hour epic! We started off with the classic Watchtower Chimney, led the great first pitch, and then on the third pitch, I went off-width instead of the bridging like a normal person, exhausted myself, and managed to get a No. 5 cam stuck in the chimney in the process. John Capretta the legend battled it out in the off-width and retrieved it! When we finally got ourselves to the entrance of Mr. Chicken, we managed to drop a No. 1 cam down the chimney, so I got lowered down and was able to retrieve it, thankfully. This also gave me a second shot at doing the pitch correctly like a normal person. With all the side quests done, I went into Mr. Chicken with my harness on and gear/helmet all clipped on to the sides. I got to the last crux pretty easily and exclaimed how easy it was, then proceeded to get stuck and unable to pass through. I backed out to the middle, where there was enough space to get my harness off. I used my helmet as a hex to jam it in the middle, where it precariously hung with my harness and all the gear tied to it. With no gear and my experience of doing the squeeze test all 8 ways, I started twisting myself horizontally and vertically back and forth until I was finally able to push myself with all the strength I had. I finally made it through, but my gear was still left hanging in the middle. I tried to go back to retrieve it several times but the trauma of getting through the last crux kept me from pushing myself back in. John Capretta being the legend he is, got inside and managed to pass the gear to me. With my harness back on, I set up an anchor at the end, and using the rope, we managed to tramline the rest of the other gear, helmet, and bag. Then John Capretta got in and took of his harness in the middle similarly and I pulled it out. He then managed to get through the last crux way more gracefully and with far less effort. It was then that I was able to see the hidden body pocket I had difficulty finding. At 7pm John Capretta lead the last pitch of the Watchtower crack and finished just in time as it got dark luckily, as the only headtorch was with me. I was thoroughly exhausted by the time we topped out. Thankfully, we had our mate Jack Leerson at the Kitten wall, we got his rope and abseiled down and finished at 10pm! It was an absolutely fantastic time on this unique climb. I may try it again from the crack side in the future, but not anytime soon! If anyone wants to do it, I recommend doing the squeeze test the regular way and feet first from the other side. If you can finish that with a level head, then you are definitely ready for Mr Chicken. Be sure to use the rope tramline beta and pay close attention to the spots where the cave opens for you to squeeze through; you will be able to do it, unless you are heavily built, in which case stay away from it!

Being as thin as I am, and how easy it was for us to do the squeeze test (we even did it at the same time in opposite directions), I actually never thought I would doubt my self as much as I did. Almost wanted to bail halfway through but at the end I just took some clothes off to reduce friction, left my bag behind and that gave me the placebo mental strength I needed to get through.

All of this is amazing! I guess "Arapiles 9", anywhere else would be a few grades more than 9, but it's pretty straightforward climbing. Pitches 3 and 4 are epic!

Mega classic imo. Possibly the most fun I've had on a grade 9! I led all but pitch 2. Superb climbing the whole way. Pitch 4 was indeed exhilarating. Lots of horizontal placements that gobbled up my totem cams.
